We'll see what happens, but I shan't be holding my breath.

Whilst we're on the topic, will registered users be notified by email when the app does eventually hit the iTunes store?

Any chance we will get that "more info will be out soon" that the original post alluded to? It's been two months... Not looking for a release date or anything, just a feature set or anything at this point.

How about an option to upload a DVD/Blu-ray/HD DVD image and title to Facebook wall with a "Watched on XX/XX/XX at XX:XX" and maybe a star rating if input.

Not something I'd use but it would be good for spreading the DVDProfile name and maybe earn you a few bucks.

As no one has discussed price, based on the iPhone users I know purchasing habits, a free lite version and the 'pro' version to be say £1.79/$2.00.  Anymore expensive and I don't think you will sell as many copies.  You could always bite the bullet and go for the 79p/99c option as most high selling apps are at this price point, but if I was you I'd like to see some sales figures taking into account Apples cut to see if this is a valid option.

I'd put the facebook option in both though!!!

I'd like the facebook option - I use the Movie Rack app for this feature.

I think Ken can go up in price safely.  From what I gather, it's mostly a companion app.  I'll gladly pay the price of a DVD for it.

As would I.

I have been holding out on jumping onto the iPhone bandwagon but iPhone4 finally has the high resolution screen and will do justice to DVDProfiler's cover scans  Patience...patience...

£1.79 seems a lot cheaper than I was thinking.
Obviously as a consumer I want it as cheap as possible but this seems easily a £5 app.

The current mobile app is $18.95 so a possible price could be around the £10 mark...

It would sure be great to see support for the new Retina Display.  Would make cramming in a lot of data a lot easier to read on a small screen.
Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.

I'll admit that I didn't read through everyone else's posts of suggested features...so please forgive any repeat suggestions.

1. Barcode scanning using camera (and not just for adding profiles - would be nice to use barcode scanning to lookup profiles)
2. Full profile syncing with PC (complete descriptions, cast, crew, features, personalized info, etc.)
3. Not sure if this one is possible, but would be great to integrate profiles into the iOS Spotlight Search (so searching in spotlight search would return results from DVD profiles - and tapping a result would load that profile in the app)
4. Shake iPhone for random movie pick.
5. Would be nice to have Skins (not necessarily layouts - just ability to choose colors, button styles, etc.)

As far as price goes, I could see myself spending up to $10 USD for it. I saw a few people who said they would pay the price of a DVD on it, but I'm not sure that the majority of people would. iPhone users have become accustomed to the 'normal' app store pricing ($0.99, $1.99, $2.99, $4.99, etc.), so I would say $9.99 would be a fair price that most DVD Profiler users wouldn't think twice about paying.

Anyway, my only other suggestion would be to hurry up and release it so I can purcahse it ;-)

Thanks,
DP

I think it's kind of foolish to expect this app to be $2.99. Many of us have spent over $15 for a Windows Mobile version of DVDP and had no problem with that. I don't see this being any less that $9.99 and I would pay more.

This isn't iFart or FlightControl it's not a mass market app, it's a niche app that is probably going to work best if one already has the desktop version. You have to expect it to be a higher price. DVDProfiler is in a circumstance like OmniFocus (a GTD app), small developer, niche app. I spent $19.99 for OmniFocus for iPhone and didn't think twice about it.

I'd be happy to pay £10 for this, would love an idea as to release date! I'm currently using My Movies and am not really feeling the love for it! DVDProfiler on my iphone would be amazing.

I'll second the feature that puts the child discs under the main one until expanded as this is one thing that really annoys me with My Movies, when I scroll through my collection it has a different entry for each disc and I have loads of TV boxsets that take ages to get through (particularly starting with 'B'). Scanning in a barcode and being able to update the online collection on the move would be a bonus.

God I hope this comes out soon, it'll be one of my favorite apps when it does.

A link to IMDB would be nice - even nicer if it would spawn the IMDB App.
