I have run across a number of contribtutions adding Uncredited cast.  The source is the AFI database.  Does that fall into the same catafory as IMDB which I have been made to understand is not allowed?  Lastly, where in the rules can the prohibition regarding the database be found?

Thank you!

If it is their only source I would vote no. If they have at least a couple more sources then I would probably vote yes.

Unless they've included time hacks and other details needed to ID the person (especially if not well known) on my disc i would vote know.

A referenced database by itself is not sufficient.

Just one source could be a bit less.
Some kind of explained personnel recognize is also always good.

And for voting the contribution notes have to be good (see above) and my vote is also a bit depending on the experience I had with the contributor.

When you contribute uncredited actors isn't there a declaration you have to tick to say you have personally identified them from the film?

Time stamps are not and never were a requirement. Voting no because someone doesn't include them is against the voting rules.

AFI is fine but like with any other source  they should list more than one as the rules state you can't "submit content from a third party database". IMDb can be used as an additional source. You have to watch for sites that list IMDb cast though. Most I've seen will reference IMDb (I'm sure it's part of their licensing) but the reference may be hard to spot.

If the contribution has 3 independent sources that all list the same thing there is no reason Invelos shouldn't accept it.

I thought I'd heard something about that but just did a test and didn't have a tick box.

I just tried again with a different profile and got the box on that one!

However for the first one, I still don't get a box -

The only difference is that this profile has an auto filter change as well. With the other one, the uncredited was the only change.

Under the Introduction portion of the rules, you will find this statement: Please don't submit content from a third party database..."

Did the profile with no box already contain uncredited and did the profile with a box have no pre-existing uncredited?

Yes that's it! Thanks!

So in other words, only the first person to contribute Uncredited to a profile needs to confirm they've identified the person.

If I remember correctly Ken added the check box feature for new uncredited entries to a profile.  Because of issues where some contributors were adding uncredited casts for brand new profiles.  Since these brand new profiles don't come up for voting all sorts of bad data was getting in.

In fact, given the wording above the "Submit Uncredited Cast" check box on the contribution form, I'd say that even data from a compilation of several third party databases is insufficient documentation.

I agree, time stamps would also be helpful. Third party sources certainly are not the preferred method.
