What would be the title of this in the opinion of the community:

I know this part of the rules:
Quote:
If the title appears in multiple languages, use the title that matches the language of the locality and do not include an alternate title ( for instance in another language).

And this is not like for example "Snatch - Schweine und Diamanten", which is "original title - tagline", because the original title is "Le grand bleu".

But I'm (and as seen some other users) not in favor to just have the German part as title.

This movie is best known as "The Big Blue - Im Rausch der Tiefe"  in Germany. Without the English part of the title it's not the easiest to find. In most cases it's announced with the full title.

There are many similar examples where the Title appears like that and this is how they are known, so leaving a part out, isn't very usefull.

I'm very interested in in other opinions.
Does this also happen in other countries often?

Going solely on how the rule is currently worded, "Im Rausch der Tiefe" but agree with your reasoning that only using that localities language shouldn't always apply.

Might be worth starting a thread in the Rules Committee - But then again, it could get confusing if you add in too many ifs, ands and buts.

This film was released in both English and French versions so The Big Blue is equally valid as the original title.

I am also voting NO on the contribution.

The Big Blue - Im Rausch der Tiefe

is the german title, also according to Concorde, the manufacturer of the Blu-ray.

And "The Big Blue" means something completely different than "Im Rausch der Tiefe.

Also he is contributing it the 2nd time, first time it already got declined

It really shouldn't be possible for one film to have two "equally valid" original titles for our purposes. If that truly is the case here, we need to change the rule to address that.

Not "our" original title. Although that could be tricky as well...
