This is probably an error on my behalf, but i just want to be clear on this.

I added a custom crew member, but i added it in th props department, as there it "belongs". Now in my understanding custom crew are not contributed, but they were. See: Link

So if i want a crew member to not be contributed, does it mean i should add it to the "other" field? Also a FYI it was a new contribution so i couldn't see what i was contributing.

Only crew enter under "Other" wont be contributed if you add a crew member under a normal role and then add a custom role this will be contributed

If you did this

It would be contributed as Production Designer

It would help if you also provided a screenshot from how this looks in your local database (with the "Assign role"-window open).

It looks as if you've only added a custom job description (they can be entered for EVERY crew entry, both contributable and non-contributable ones), but still ticked the "production designer" checkbox. That isn't right: if the custom crew member you're adding shouldn't be contributed, then you need to select "Other" for him (available in each crew section). Only crew members listed as "Other" will be left out of your contribution. Of course you can still give him a custom role description, too - those labels are never contributed.

Yes. If you don't want a crew member to be contributed then check the "other" field within the category that it fits.

In this case "Art" and then "Other".

As you can see, the custom role you've added is not there.

It's not about the custom role. It's about the fact that Tuulikki Uskali (a hair stylist) is not the film's production designer, yet has been contributed as such.

The only question that I have

If I put Crew X and mark Art---> Make-up artist then add Makeup for Actor X in custom role

I contribute and it only contributes Make-Up artist, which is fine.

Now lets say somebody contributres a common name entry for another crew member.

Now if I download the update, do I lose my custom role? Does the custom role entry necessitate me to manual updates now?

D'OH!!!!

I was obviously entirely confused!

I thought we were talking about Maila Toivo in the custom role!

My complete and total bad! Please ignore my previous post (I'll edit it so it's not so confusing).

Then in that case, yes, it was done incorrectly and you should select other in the section (or other all on it's own) to add a custom role so it doesn't get contributed!!

Whoops!
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

No, this was fixed in 3.6. You'll keep your custom crew roles even when you accept an update.

Ah, ok thanks. I did exactly what is shown on ninehours picture. I thought the custom role kinda overrided the selected role. And remember wondering why the tick didn't disappear when i wrote the role. Didn't saw that there was also an "other" role, only saw the "other" section. Need to correct the profile when i get back home...
