Quick question about the whole COO issue. In The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the first production listed is based out of Canada, the second is the UK. At the end of the credits it states it is a United Kingdom - Canada Co-Production. Which COO do we use? Would it be Canada since the first production company listed is based out of there? Or would it be the UK since it is listed first concerning co-production and not that it makes a difference, but in the unit crew, the UK crew is listed first then the Canadian crew.

Terry Gilliam is not Canadian. He brought this produciton over to Canada for the CDN crews to help film this UK production .

I know he's not Canadian but the first production company listed in the opening credits is Canadian so that's why I asked. I figured the safe bet would be United Kingdom as the COO but wasn't sure.

IMHO the safe bet would be to leave it blank. If you don't know which company the "primary production company" is (whatever that means anyway) and even the credits state that it's a "Co-Production", then why choose a CoO without really knowing? The director's nationality or descent has nothing to do with the CoO.

Unfortunately, the CoO rule doesn't cover co-productions (or perhaps the software with only one CoO field). Many (if not most) European films are produced by a couple of equally involved companies from different countries. This case is similar I guess.

Agree with Muckl. IMDB mentions also a French Studio, maybe it's also in the credits. About the CoO field too: now we have Iran, f.i., as country but most of the movies they make (probably all) are co-productions. Same goes for Vietnam, Thailand etc.

I'd leave it blank. At present, we have no way to properly deal with multinational co-productions (nor agreement on what to do with them as long as we only have one CoO field).
