How to deal with typos in overview/title?

I didn't find any hint on that problem using the search function, nor in the contribution rules, so maybe someone could give me a answer:

Sometimes there are typos in the overviews, obviously. E. g. the German release for "The Big Blue" (DVD and Blu-ray) repeats two times "können sie" on the back cover. Contribution rules say: "Copy the overview from the back of the DVD case exactly as written, including capitalization of words exactly as shown on the back of the case."

So, do we have to put the typos into the overview - even if they are obvious?

There are no rules according to typos and changes in orthography for typographical reasons in the title. German titles often have "ss" instead of "ß", the last one being the correct orthography but changed to ss in capitals for long time lacking of capital "ß" in typography. E. g. correct spelling is "Das weiße Band", but title on cover "DAS WEISSE BAND".

The rule you quoted should be taken literally, which means you have to copy the typos for contributions. Of course, you're free to correct the typos locally and then lock the overviews in the profiles involved.

Thanks. So that means one has to "correct" existing overviews beacuse they're lacking of typos on the cover. Seems a bit strange, though.

It is strange isn't it. But, this way if everyone copies it the way it is written it will be standardized. Personally, spelling errors bother me and I fix them locally and lock that data so it can't be changed.

If you do change the data and contribute it, please make a note that about the spelling error in your contribution notes. This way everyone knows that the error is actually part of the overview and not a spelling error on the contributors part.

No, it means if you're creating a new profile you should use the overview from the cover (including spelling mistakes). When the overview is already there, you don't "have" to do anything.

That is something many users will never learn: There is no obligation to actively apply the rules in the few cases when they will lead to nonsensical results. Sometimes it's best to do nothing.
