Then add a program that could record the signal. I have been using various Hauppauge products for years now. They usually come bundled with recording software called "WINTV". Take a look at the Hauppaugue web site and store for a complete explanation of all their prducts, internal and external-USB. You can buy them anywhere else to get the best price, but their web site is great for explaining the products. Even those little USB tuners come with a cable for AV input and recording. Instead of a DVR, I use the Hauppague HD-PVR which records from any Component video source with a choice of optical and analog audio. That's probably more horsepower than you need for home videos, but I mention it just in case. Oh, and to Donnie's point, those turnkey DVD recoder boxes also work great for recording from composite/S-video analog sources directly to DVD. I have one, but I have found the other products more flexible and the result winds up on my hard drive. | | | Thanks for your support.

That HD one would really be a bit too much, since i dont really have any HD content  After reading a lot more, ive seen many recommend the Canopus ADVC ones. Its a converter that converts the analog signal "on the fly" to a digital format. So you just add it between the analog device and the PC, and you can record using any video editing software. Its a bit pricey though, cheaper model costs 200e here. But since its not Operating System or driver dependent, it could prove to be useful in the future too. | | | | Last edited: by whispering |
