Not so much that I remember, but it was about some criminals that "hired" a woman to guide them through the mountains, and I believe it wasan actress from Cheers. Not so much to go on, but this is all I remember...

Closest I could find was Shoot to Kill with Kirstie Alley...

As the movie opens, FBI agent Warren Stantin (Sidney Poitier) gets involved in a hostage situation that ends badly. The elusive, cold-blooded villain escapes and ends up infiltrating a hiking party being led through the forests of the Pacific Northwest. This forces Stantin, a true city slicker, to enlist the aid of rugged mountain guide Jonathan Knox (Tom Berenger), whose girlfriend Sarah (Kirstie Alley) is leading the party.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I agree with the Martian. That movie first came to mind as the most likely candidate when I read your first post.

all filmed in Vancouver BC and at  Robson Square ..

I did like this film too, but the scenes shot here in town always made us Vancouverites laugh as they speed thru the back alleys of Vancouevr and then turned a corner and was teleported 30 miles away to the ferry termnal..
