| Posted: | | | | They used to be one of the best places to order from on the internet, now amazon has a better price almost every time. The last good exsperiance I had with them is when they had their criterion sale. By the way their customer service has always been deplorable. I once got a broken disc with my Star Trek Enterprise. I told them about it and that I needed a prepaid shipping label. The rude women on the phone told me I would have to pay full price now, ans they would not ship it back to me until there item was returned. I asked to speak to a manager and they agreed to give me the origional price and ship it out immediatly. The women proceded to charge a six dollar shipping fee which I later got waived and failed to aplogize. The proceded to send me three replacment which I was charged for each one and I was not not refunded until I sent the extra two back to them. That would never happen with amazon. They used to have ecellent service, now it takes them months to ship anything out becasuse evrything is on backorder. I have been waiting to months for a season of CSI, that is not exactly hard to find. I always have to call them now to make an order. They do not send out e-mails They Should get their act together. | | | Last edited: by Jericko1 |

| Posted: | | | | My experience has been the same. I used to buy almost exclusively from DDD (back when it was DeepDiscountDVD). Now I buy almost exclusively from Amazon, since DDDs prices have just become totally non-competitive. I pay for "Prime" membership at Amazon, and get free 2-day shipping on almost everything. When I divide that cost by the number of orders I place with them, it comes out to pennies per item and worth every cent. | | | Hal |

The prime membership does sound like a good deal, I was thinking about doing the one month trial, The only thing is I buy of a lot of the vendors. |

| Posted: | | | | Had a similar experience with those guys when I bought one of the Die Hard Bd's from them. When it arrived to me, the innercover was pushed so far up that the security seal shredded the cover for me, and I contacted the customer service to see if they could get me a replacement. And they could do that. So I returned my shredded disc to them, and waited for them to send a replacement. In my orderstatus it once said: Packed and ready for shipping, but some time later it said Cancelled. I wrote an e-mail to ask what's going on, and they replied that DDD don't send to P.O Boxes no more, I had to get a real mail adress. Hmm I wrote back and said it's only a week since I received that disc, and now suddenly they can't send to P.O boxes? I have been using them for years before that incident, but suddenly they changed policy. I got my refund, but I'm not going to use them anymore because of their arrogant behaviour. | | | "What's God?" | Posted: | | | | I used to order from DD very often, but haven't now in quite a while. Amazon gets most of my money these days, and I have a Prime membership so everything gets here pronto.
The last order from DD took over three weeks after shipment to arrive to me. Sometimes their shipping arrived very quickly, and other times like that it was S-L-O-W. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | I once added up my orders from Deep Discount, mostly DVDs, a few CDs... I know I spent at least a thousand more dollars there after I made the total, but at the time, my total spent there was well more than $10,000. When Amazon began offering free shipping on all orders more than $25, I started finding that Amazon's prices was often lower than DDD's. As time passed, this occurred more and more. With at most two or three exceptions over the past three years, Amazon beats DDD's prices on everything other than Criterion, and occasionally is quite competitive on those.
I rarely need fast shipping, I get two or more shipments every week... why pay more when I'm overloaded with DVDs I want to watch now?
I agree with what nearly every statement made so far. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | DD used to have the best prices but that changed years ago. Their "Guaranteed Lowest Total Price" is a bit misleading since you have to place an order at the higher than normal prices and then request a price match. The catch is there is no guarantee that they'll match the price and the items may ship in the mean time. |

| Posted: | | | | Add me to the rest of those who used to use DD but now use Amazon just about exclusively. PRIME ROCKS! For the past 2 years now just about all of my Christmas shopping was with prime, same for birthdays and any other occasion where I need to get a present. The $3.99 overnight shipping price has saved me many times You can even get a Saturday delivery for somewhere around 7 bucks. Order something on Friday and have it in you hand on Saturday for under $10.00. Imagine the volume they must be shipping to get that deal with UPS. I'm sure most are familiar with price-adjustment.com or camelcamelcamel.com but just in case there are those who are not familiar with them check them out. Great way to find out if a deal is really a deal! |

| Posted: | | | | I wish Amazon.ca was half as good as Amazon.com, but their prices are often not even competitve with Futureshop and Best Buy, let alone its American counterpart. That is why I still buy most of my titles retail. Heck in the last year I have ordered 3 times more titles from amazon.com than amazon.ca because even with international shipping and duty it is usually a better bargain. |

| Posted: | | | | I'll ditto, as I said in a prior post, when look at my wish list it had hundred of items in it. I ask them to clear it, didn't it took me days to clear it
I been use Amazon's 'Prime' for sometime. Tthe UPS driver and me are like old buddies, every Tuesday around noon the door bll rings and he waves as he is leaving. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. I must just have been lucky; quite a few of the the discs I've wanted to import from R1 were cheaper at Amazon.ca, and as a bonus, even though I paid only for the standard shipping they sent it courier to the UK arriving within 2 days every single time! At the moment that is the standard delivery time here (provided they have the merchandise in store) FWIW Prime is 1-day shipping (though it might be 2 if you order too late in the day!) in the UK; if you go for the free option it can be pretty similar if they aren't busy but if they get busy Prime customers get their orders done first, then the first class delivery option orders, then the free delivery orders (probably send second class). FWIW Prime seems very devisive amongst people I know; one half seem to think it's a huge cheek getting people to pay extra for delivery times that many other companies don't charge for (well, include in the price at least) and won't do it on principle, the others say for usually next day or 2 day delivery and with the amount of stuff they buy it's an absolte bargain... you decide | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

But since Amazon is offering the "Prime"-service here now too, I guess that, this will become worse. You have to figure in that Germany is way smaller than the US! Edit: and to stay on topic, DD used to be great but that's history. All my business is going to Amazon these days. Better prices, better service.
