I came across this last night "Make-up Effects Supervisor" and wondered if it would be allowed by the rules.

Yes, I'd say that qualifies for a "make-up effects" credit.

Agreed.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Evidently not.

On personnel preference, I would also agree, but ...

... In the "credited as" coloumn of the credit chart is for Make-Up Effects no credit with supervisor included.
In all other crew credits where we accept a Supervisor as credit, it's included in the "credited as" coloumn.
-> So no credit we track.

I agree, Makeup Effects Supervisor = Makeup Effects credit.

Sorry, "NO"!
Even though on a local basis I do agree, for the online database this is a non-valid entry.
According to the contribution rules valid entries are only:
Quote:
Make-up Effects,
Special Make-up Effects [by]

Source: http://www.invelos.com/dvdpro/contributions/Rules.aspx?display=credits

This is even more evident since in the cases where the "Supervisor" gets entered into our database are explicitly named. They are to be found in:
- Visual Effects
- Costumes
- Art Director
- and some selected "Sound"-jobs

It's time for someone to come up with the "functional equivalent"-idea again.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

You could also make the case that just a plain old "Makeup Supervisor" wouldn't be allowed either. Even in the few cases where they are the only makeup credit since that isn't listed in the rules either.

Heck if you wanted to follow the rules to a "T' then a VFX Supervisor wouldn't be allowed either since that specific wording isn't in the rules either.

After all if we go only be the credit then how do we know what VFX stands for? It could stand for Video Football Xerox.

You need to differentiate between different wordings and different jobs.
We have a "Visual Effects Supervisor" named in the rules, where the VFX Supervisor would only be a different spelling, and by this I wouldn't object to "Make-up FX" either.
But a "Supervisor" is a different job than the ordinary "Effects"-man.
And the rules make it quite easy here:
Quote:
The table below gives each of the crew roles available within DVD Profiler. For each category, include only those people credited with the roles listed in the "Role" and "Credited As" columns. If someone is not credited with one of these roles (or direct translations of these roles), do not include them in the Crew section.

Is it allowed?

The second example is different imho.

Let's look at Greg Nicotero.

According to http://wapedia.mobi/en/Greg_Nicotero he is credited as special makeup effects supervisor in the following movies.

Tales from the Darkside: The Movie
The People Under the Stairs
Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings
Lord of Illusions
Scream
Boogie Nights
Scream 2
The Green Mile
The Haunting
The Cell
Unbreakable
Vanilla Sky
Vampires: Los Muertos
Bubba Ho-tep
Cabin Fever
Identity
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Kill Bill: Vol. 1
Riding the Bullet
Ray
Sin City
Land of the Dead
Serenity
Disturbia

And of those, Boogie Nights, Bubba Ho-tep, The Cell, Sin City, The Green Mile, Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Land of the Dead, Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings, Ray, Scream, Scream 2, Serenity, Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, Unbreakable, Vanilla Sky and The Haunting are all in the database (according to the CLT) as having Makeup Effects credit.

If Wapedia is correct and all of these credits have Supervisor in the job title then I guess all of these credits should be removed??
