I have a Region 1 copy of 'Mission to Mars' with the EAN-717951008398.
It has a Disc ID of 3DF6C838E35CE46F [MISSMARS]

It is definately a Canadian release as it states on the rear of the box at the very bottom left > "This product is authorized for sale in Canada only." and has the phrase "Version française incluse' on the front cover.

Neither current profile matches this release.
Both profiles (USA and Canada) feature the same artwork, neither of which is Canadian. :S
(These both state on the back > "This product is authorized for sale in U.S.A. only.")

Can I please ask anyone who owns the region 1 'Mission to Mars' release (either Canada or USA) to please check their version and put their findings here, so we can figure out what's going on?

The version you have (and I used to have) is the Canadian release. The cover submitted by Lostmule is for the US release. Them sharing the UPC is probably what caused the confusion although it's quite common. A correct scan should be provided for the Canadian profile.

Edit: To address his comment that it is the Canadian cover is shown to be incorrect by the "authorized for sale in USA only" part.

Edit 2: Turns out it was wishful thinking on my part & I do still have this dire film!

Other than the logo on the front, the rest of the cover is entirely in English so would apply to the Canada locality.

It's not just that.

In the database we have -
USA locality = Disc ID is 3DF6C838E35CE46F [MISSMARS]
Canada locality = Disc ID is B0D01FB855D7D4D0 [MISSMARS]

If I'm not mistaken, these Disc IDs are the wrong way round!

I believe you have a typo for the EAN/UPC of the original post.  The US release on the DVD has a UPC of 717951008398 whereas you've typed 717951080398.  As far as I can tell per the online database the Canadian release also has the 717951008398 UPC.

I can confirm my US DVD has a Disc ID of B0D01FB855D7D4D0 [MISSMARS].

EDIT:  It looks like Woola contributed the current Disc ID for the US locality.  Maybe he can chime in and confirm which release he actually has.

The Canadian profile was added to the database in March 2007 (due to the transfer to the new invelos site) and according to several canadian sites (HMV, Amazon.ca, etc) the release date for this Canadian release was 2 Sep 2003.  The US release had a 12 Sep 2000 release date.  More than likely the profile was cloned but the info was never updated to reflect the correct data for the Canadian release.

According to some preliminary research I've done online, to make things a bit more confusing it looks like the US release was re-released on 4 Jun 2002 with the same UPC.  I purchased my copy in the beginning of Oct 2000 a few weeks after the initial release.

I just tried checking my copy & it's not being read so I can't confirm one way or the other. However, it's always possible that both IDs are floating around in both localities.

Good 'ol DVD Express before the demise of many online retailers when the dot.com bubble burst.  There may have been two plants that pressed this disc which could explain the two different Disc IDs.

Yep bought loads from them and their successor express.com. I ilked the fact that sometimes opening the packaging that maybe a jigsaw puzzle, a balsa wood plane, a pen, a pad of post-it notes, a key-ring, a tube of Pez or some such other gift would appear, although I would guess that wouldn't help their profits that much.

If I'm reading this post correctly , you're trying to figure out between Canada and USA locality?
With the bold impression I've supplied above, the Locality is most Likely French Canadian or Quebec., and Lost Mule I believe is from Quebec .. ( which isn't a bad thing.. )

Not really. I know I have a Canadian release for the reasons you have highlighted. I'm just trying to establish whether the online profiles are correct.
