Apologies if this has been brought up before and I missed it.

If I have voted no to a contribution, the contributor may update his notes verifying why he has made a certain change etc in answer to my vote.
However I will not know this unless I keep checking back on the no vote.
Is there a way that a contribution does or could appear again in Unvoted Pending Updates to flag such an occurence that an amendment has occured?

It doesn't at the moment but I agree that it would be useful.

Sometimes the contributor will PM the "No" people to say that the notes have been updated but of course that's down to the individual user.

Perhaps if notes are updated, a system PM could be auto sent to users who voted "No".

If the contributor reacts to your "No"-vote and changes his contribution accordingly it will show up again as "unvoted" pending update.
This will not work if the change is limited to the contribution notes.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Unfortunately, that only works if the contribution has been withdrawn and resubmitted. A system PM would certainly come in handy.

AFAIK Invelos had commented on this in the past. The updated contribution notes are mainly for the screeners to see, if the contributor addressed the issues the no-vote had.

Of course it would be nice, if the no-voter would get to see the contribution again, but it is not really necessary. I never have contacted the No-Voter when I have changed my notes. The screeners are already able to decide, if the no-vote has been addressed properly.

The only problem I see with this is that it was stated a few times that there is a weighting on votes that not agreeing with the screen could affect a user's voting weight.  If notes are updated to clarify something that would change an incorrect vote to a correct one I feel that it users should be notified and given time to review the updated notes.

If every update of contribution notes would invalidate all given no votes, I'm sure there would be some 'smart' users which would try to update their contribution notes until the no voters would be bored or inattentive enough and would forget to refresh their vote.

I for one am certainly not suggesting that updating notes invalidates the existing "No" votes, ONLY sends those people a PM advising that the notes have been updated & to re-evaluate their vote if necessary.

I would like to see some sort of notice myself.. as there has been times that after updated notes I have changed my no vote to yes... that is when the contributor was good enough to PM me when they updated their notes. Who knows if I missed any that I could have changed my no vote on if I saw the better explanation in the notes afterwards.

Agreed again. While I do often see what happens with profiles I vote no on (because there aren't many of them) I can imagine that people with bigger collections and more contributions to look at can't really do that. So some kind of alert that notes have been changed would be helpful, but indeed, without invalidating the previous vote.

Ken has stated that this is measured over time.  This is done, at least from my understanding, to let the screeners know which users are just voting for the sake of voting.  A few votes, that don't match up with the screeners decisions, shouldn't cause any user a problem.

Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
