I'm working on updating the profile for the new Galaxy Quest Deluxe Edition that was just released this week, but I'm having issues with the front cover image.  I've included various images of the artwork below.  What should I use for the front?

This is the existing "pre-release" artwork:

This is the inner keepcase artwork, which is a bit different and per the rules shouldn't be used:

This is my scan of the actual lenticular cover (yes, I know, it's pretty bad...but it's lenticular which is very hard to scan):

And, just for reference, here's my pathetic attempt to catch the "alternate" angle of the lenticular cover (which is closest to the inner keepcase artwork)

I actually don't think there's anything particularly wrong with your scan. It may want to be a bit sharper but otherwise I think it's a good attempt at scanning a difficult type of cover. On that basis, I would vote for the lenticular cover.

Edit: Especially because the artwork isn't the same between the lenticular & the inner.

I agree with Forget. Your scan is fine.

If you could attach you digital camera to a tripod, you could make a straight picture of the cover. Your alternate angle shows that taking a picture might have an even better quality.

I kept the prerelease front and scanned the back to create a hybrid.

Have you tried turning the lenticular cover on the scanner? Sometimes it works better.

@Dirk

Yea I tried that, went from bad to worse. That's why I generated the hybrid to contribute.

Your scan of the lenticular cover looks good from the pic I see here, better than most L. covers I can recall in my collection which were approved at some point. I see nothing wrong with it and hope it's waiting for me when I get around to picking this DE up.

I voted other as I think what you've shown is usable. It wouldn't hurt to try a few more times to see if you can get it better, but if not I like what you already have.

@Eagle

I agree with bigdaddy, your lenticular scan is better than most. If you submit it I'll go for it.

I'm glad everyone thinks my scan is of decent quality.  I didn't put any effort into that...I just did a quick scan and resized it to 25% so I could post the question.  I'll do a "real" scan of it tonight and see what I can do to improve the quality.

The fruits of my labor have been contributed...keeping fingers crossed now.  It's clearly not perfect, for obvious reasons, but it came out better than the example shot I included here.  The UPC is: 097361-397740 for those interested.

I wont vote on it as I don't have the release or have it on order (yet) but it looks very good for a cover type that's a complete pain.

Very nice job Eagle, I withdrew my hybrid in favor of your scan.
