I want to be able to save a copy of my DVD Profiler to an External HD or Flash Drive in case my computer is corrupted/stolen etc.
Is this possible?

This protects your collection data.
You can always re-download the application from this site and restore your database if your computer is corrupted/stolen. | | | | Hal |

You can then tell it exactly where you want to save your backup file. Be sure to select full backup. This is not an excel spreadsheet. It is a backup file that can only be used to restore your database into DVD Profiler. | | | | Hal |

| | Posted: | | | | That's how it is supposed to look. Start DVD Profiler and use 'file->Restore database' to import the backup.

This is simply a backup file. It is not the application itself.
If you are trying to install the application on an external HD or Flash Drive, you would have to install the DVDP application on that device and then restore your back up file. So you mean I download DVD Profiler software onto the External Hard Drive and then I restore the back up? Can I use the same Registration Key to download DVD Profiler onto an External Hard Drive? |

Please help What you want to do is to upload your profile online. Since you are unregistered, this option is only available up until you enter more than 50 DVDs. It has been a long time since I've done it, but I believe you select Online>DVD Profiler Online... logon and upload. Once it is uploaded, you can use your browser at work to go to the link http://www.invelos.com/DVDCollection.aspx/kanamint to see your collection. No programs to install. Hope this is helpful. |

At any rate, one obviuos issue is the interaction of the software with the operating system. DVD Profiler stores information in the windows registry. This information persists across sessions and reboots. So, even if Profiler is actually stored on a USB drive, at some point it would have had to have been installed under the OS and registry values stored. Furthermore, certain paths that Profiler uses are relative to the OS installation. Suggestions: (1) Explore one of those remote PC packages. You can then logon to your home PC from a web browser anywhere and run Profiler on your own PC. (2) Use DVD Profiler Mobile. Don't have a compatible phone? Buy a used one off eBay or something. It doesn't have to be used as a phone - think of it as a fancy thumbdrive that runs "Profiler". | | | Thanks for your support.

The best bet is to always do a backup (as we should do anyhow) and, if something happens, just download the program again and restore your database from the backup. |
