| Posted: | | | | I'm looking for a surround system and from my time spent in Japan, I've remained a fan of Onkyo system. The idea would be to have a system that works well with my blu-ray player, a 60GB Japanese PS3. My eye caught this little beauty: Onkyo HTX-22HD. Advantages: - doesn't include a DVD-player (my PS3 upconverts just fine) - supports all Blu-ray codecs - standard 2.1 system out of the box, but can be upgraded to 5.1 or even 7.1 by buying extra speakers. A speaker set exists to upgrade to 5.1 - price is good - Receiver is integrated in subwoofer (saves space) - works with Viera Link (I have a Panasonic Viera HD TV) So, any idea if this is a good investment? The thing holding me back right now is the fact that Onkyo doesn't have a service center in Belgium and I would have to rely on the service centers in Germany or the UK in case of a problem. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

Low frequencies are way less directional than high frequencies, so subwoofers can be placed where they are heard and not seen. But if the placement is too close to the listener or too close to something that rattles, you can get undesired effects. Being able to move the subwoofer where it sounds best without worrying about receiver connections or worrying about being able to see the display would be important to me. Of course, you make your own decision. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |

| Posted: | | | | We have it at our store. It's actually pretty neat. But only when you combine it with the optional center and rear speakers. It sounds way better than the Receiver/Speaker Combinations you get for about the same price. It talked to a guy from Onkyo about it and he said that it basically has all the components of the Onkyo Tx-SR 606 inside. Minus the Tuner.. So I can recommend it, if you don't wanna spend too much! | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

Thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to know. I'm looking for a sturdy surround system but only to enhance watching blu-rays and for a room big enough to accomodate 2-4 people. A lot of tuners incorporate additional things like FM tuners and the likes, which I don't need. So I was indeed thinking of picking this one with the additional rear and front speakers. Also, I read it can decode all the HD audio codecs (like DTS HD MA) internally and supports up to 7.1ch, so I think it's pretty future proof. Heck, I might even immediately upgrade to 7.1ch while I'm at it ... it'll only cost me one speaker set extra. Very interesting to hear it has virtually everything on board that the 606 has, because I've basically been doubting between getting this or the 606. So thanks for the inside-info! And if you understand German: here's another one. Thanks! That's also very helpful info! The Netherlands are right next to Belgium, so at least I can have my set sent there if something is wrong with it. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

| Posted: | | | | There is no good reason not to get it. Since it's been on the market a little while now and didn't sell very well due to bad marketing you might find a retailer who gives you a really good price.. | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |
