| Posted: | | | | I have a bit of a question regarding image contribution. A while back I contributed what I felt was a better front cover for the DVD Girl With a Pearl Earring. The current front cover image has large white spaces on the sides (click here to see the current ones) and I submitted one that was nicely cropped and large to display only the front cover, not the front cover surrounded by white space. The back image is also quite ugly, but I didn't change it and stated so in my contribution notes. No one voted on the contribution (I guess not a lot of folks own this DVD) and the image was, for some reason, denied. No notation given as to why it was denied. This was quite disheartening. I just changed the absolutely tiny front cover image for The Civil War: A Film by Ken Burns to a larger, nicer image in my local. I would submit the new front cover for anyone else with this DVD set to enjoy, but fear that I will encounter the same issue that happened with the previous front cover only change. So, can anyone give me any enlightenment as to why the previous image might have been denied? | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | Hello I guess the SCREENERS just made a mistake there, maybe resubmit it and also change the ugly backcover, then all should be fine it is common that we change both covers and not only the front cover. But still your contribution should have been approved in my opinion. greetings Donnie | | | www.tvmaze.com | | | Last edited: by DarklyNoon |

| Posted: | | | | What I love is when you post a better image and people vote negative for stupid reasons like 'detail' and colors being off. Point is, if it looks BETTER than whats already there they shouldn't be voting no IMO. I don't see anyone else trying to post better images to make their profiles look a little better right? |

I personally think many of the online covers are over processed and have way too much contrast, but if the voters like it that way then what can you do? I just scan the images the way I want them and pretty much keep them local. --------------- |

What the point REALLY is is that while the image you post looks BETTER to you it may not look better to anyone else. As scotthm says, "better" is highly subjective. It also depends on a number of factors like the monitor you have and how it is adjusted. Reasons like 'detail' and colors being off may sound stupid to you, they are not stupid to everyone. I don't see anything wrong with posting images you think are better than the ones online. And I'm sure most users would like to have the best images for their profiles. I don't believe people vote NO to images that they think are better than what's there. Obviously those negative voters don't agree that your images ARE better. And they have every bit as much right to vote against your images as you have to post them in the first place. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. | Posted: | | | | Skip, In my case, I have to rely on my wife.. I am color blind hahaha!! (seriously) LOL She is the one making sure the colors are right when I scan something (heck, although color blind, if what I see on the packaging match the screen.. I have to assume they are the same color ;-) .. unfortunately no hehe **This moment of insanity was brought to you by 'Movie Rating cie' where rating varies from city to city** Regards, Eric Quoting skipnet50: Quote: Quoting kdh1949:

| Posted: | | | | Hello Dexta, I would go on content any days over 'appearances'. If I see a wrong UPC on a 2000$ scan and a correct UPC on a 75$ scan.. I would take the 75$ any day... to me accuracy to the information matter more than what we see ... One day I have submitted a correct scan with UPC and all and one person in Canada rejected my submission because he could not see the 'Canadian rating logo' on the cover as the one which was sitting on the server. EVEN if the UPC and details behind the packaging was off... I also got denied by the screener on that one .. That being said, I have to to the screener to go through hundreds of submissions on the system.. If I do mistakes on a small collection like mine, I cannot fault the screeners for (for what I think) be a good submission... As I mentioned in a previous post "I rather see a good submission rejected than a bad one accepted!" Great work guys! | Posted: | | | | I look at the contributions at work, don't worry the voting and checking is done at home where the DVDs are unless it's an obvious call, like cover is from a different region or something like that, and many times the difference between my work monitor and the one at home is a big one. It really all depends on your monitor how a cover looks.
