Declined Comment:
An invalid source, such as a third party database, was listed in the contribution notes. Use of a third party database is not allowed per the contribution rules.

---
My comment for the Contribution:
Information taken all from Cover Backside to add here.
...

Where is the 3rd Party DB? Since when is the Cover Backside no longer a valid source???
I loaded the Movie Information from a DVDProfiler Profile, changed EAN and added the Information to my new Contribution for the EAN Above..
What is wrong with that? Does the Moderator for the Contribs really not read the Comments?
After deciding not to contrib modifed Profiles to this Progamm, I`m nearly to the Point to don`t add any kind of Information, because it seems more and more to be a time waster.

So let me know what was wrong with the Contribution.

I will not add anykind information for this Profile after that or update it later.

The decline notes say such as. It is not a complete list, just an example of invalid source. Your notes say that all info taken from the back cover but you also say that you took info from another profile. That is probably why it was declined. If taking details from an existing profile, make sure to document that in your notes as well. You probably had info that couldn't come from the cover but didn't document where it came from.

Did you add Cast or Crew data? if so then the cover is not a valid source as the rules state that cast/crew credits must come from the film's credits. (as in watch the beginning and end credits of the show)

It's a valid source for Overview, Rating, Rating Details and Media Publisher.

I can`t see my contrib anymore, just the Decline and my Comment:
What is on

->all from Cover Backside so unclear as the Scource?
I didn`t prpvide Cover Scans, since i was unable to get then! (And i never ever will contrib a Cover Scan, since it`s timeWasting (see the Friends Ultimate Box RC1 covers, other Story)

SO, when i say that this is from the Backcover, why is it decliend, when someone else don`t know nothing about this, even the Movie? And the Cover would be in German, so most Non-German-Speaker will not be able to decide if this is correct?

Ok,
i used the Credit Infos from the Cover Back as Source to add information.
Because i will not add all from the Movie Credits to the Information.
More this is a (new) stupid rule like a lot of other rules.
when the Cover Backside is no source for this information (incomplete, but for the Start enough ) then Covers at all should not be a source.

in the future i will wasting my time with other things (like watching movies) instead of contrib to DVD Profiler and be unhappy about the Voting process at all.

Have a nice day..

I wouldn't call this a new rule... as it has been in the rules since we started having rules instead of guidelines... way back during the Intervocative days. As for it being stupid... maybe it is in your opinion... but in mine it makes perfect sense. I seen many times that the back of case has been wrong on the info. And I personally prefer the profiles being accurate to the actual movie that is on the disc.

As for you not doing it... that is a choice only you can make... and I wouldn't try to change your mind one way or the other. But another option other then stop contributing?... we have partial contributions... contribute only what follows the rules... and keep everything else local and locked.

Without more information I can't know if the rejection was legit, but without clear acceptabel sources, we would suffer ping pongs, which is exactly what happened in the old days.

If it's a new contribution not in the database and you do not want add from the movie credits, don't add cast or crew.  Just add Overview, Rating, Rating Details and Media Publisher and leave off the cast and crew names and your contribution might be accepted.

The submission includes 16 cast members, with roles.  A few cast members can sometimes be found on the back cover, but it is rare for this amount of detail to be there.  The submission doesn't include cover scans, so we can't verify, so the evaluator's judgement is correct.

LOL - 16 cast members - with roles

Now that would be the first for me - I've never come across any cover listing as much as 16 cast members (and certainly not with role descriptions), so where did you get your info from topbaer?

If you won't add data based on actual credits, then I'm sorry to say: good riddance to you, especially when trying to justify your contribution by lying (if that is indeed what you've done )...

Hey Ken, while your here I got a question for you. I was updating the Wonder Woman blu-ray that is coming out in March with info from blu-ray.com, which had info from the press release. I added one cast member that is known, since various sources, such as the sneak peak on Batman: Gotham Knight, TV Guide, etc... and I included them with my notes. I remember awhile back you or Geri said something along the lines, that as long as its not the whole crew and cast from 3rd party sources, then you should be okay. Is this still valid? Thanks.
We're on a mission from God.

Depending on what data you added, Top, the ONLY thing that the back cover is really used for is the Overview. All other data should be, as the Rules state be taken from the Disc (movie) whenever possible as the Cover is often wrong. the only thing you hhave to do is read the Contribution and then follow them and make sure your notes are both thorough and concise. You evidently did not follow the Rules, therefore your Contribution was justifiably declined and quite frankly your notes were pretty bad as well. You can het as angry as you wis, sir, this is a greatt program and very easy to use and Contribute as long as you follow the Rules. Frankly, my friend, I am fairly offended at your attitude, the poroblem does not lie with Profiler but with YOU. Sorry

Like Ken had said more politly : You've lied in your contribution note so don't whine here.

Nobody is force to make a complete audit on every contribution, so if you don't want to follow the rules just don't contribute the rules breaking parts. Yes, the rules are sometimes a pain in the ass, but they are necessary if we want to keep an usefull database and not just a copy of another one on a certain website.

unfortunately as this was a new contribution you don't get the option of which bits to contribute. I tried contributing a new contribution which I copied from an existing profile and thought I could choose which bits I wanted to contribute.. and came a cropper (and tried to withdraw it) - and came a cropper there as well.

ce la vie..

It would be better is this choice was available for NEW contributions as well as update contributions

It is amazing that topbaer would lie like that and (1) expect he won't be caught lying and (2) get get angry when his lie isn't accepted.
