| Posted: | | | | I've run into a strange problem with the sorting of my copies of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. There are two releases of the show so far. There's Seasons 1 and 2 and the recently released Season 3. I had to adjust the Title sort so that the "Seasons 1 and 2" release would show up before "Season 3" in the list. This was done by simply removing the "s" at the end of the word "Seasons." That should work, right? I mean it worked for my Seinfeld sets. Not the case here. Seems that Season 3 just really likes being first.
After this, I tried everything. I removed the "and 2" altogether. Nothing. I removed the word Season from both listings and just had it as "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia 1" and 3. No change. I even removed the apostrophe thinking that maybe it was causing a weird sort feature. Still no change. I'm at a loss at this point. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or has anyone else run into this problem? It's a minor cosmetic change, but it'll bug me to no end.
Thank you. | | | What James Knows HorrorTalk |

| Posted: | | | | You did sort the display after your change, right?
The list will not sort until you tell it to.

| Posted: | | | | Be sure what you're editing is the SORT TITLE, rather than the actual profile title. This was done to give folks a means to influence the sort order of their collections without having to hack their display titles. It's a common mistake.
As pdf mentioned, you won't actually see the effects of any changes until you do a re-sort. | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |

| Posted: | | | | Yes, I thought that went without mentioning. I went through and resorted several times and as I mentioned in my original post, I edited the SORT TITLE.
Any other suggestions? | | | What James Knows HorrorTalk |

There's no reason to shorten the title. Just make sure that the numerical designators at the end have at least one leading zero. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

He shouldn't need to, even in an alphabetical order, "1" still comes before "2". Leading zeros are only necessary if you have different number of digits, e.g. seasons 1-10 where 10 would be ordered after 1 but before 2. @JamesFerguson is it possible that there's another character screwing the sort order? Have you tried to copy the sort title from one profile to the next and only replace the number? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

This worked. Strange. I did "It's Always Sunny 1" and "3" and it worked fine. Bizarre. Thanks all for the help. I have a suspicion that (at least in the older versions of DVDP) even when the allowed field length got increased the actual code that checks the title for sorting is limited to the first X characters (probably an oversight?) so shortening the title on very long titles is necessary for the programme to reach the 'difference' | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | Did you look closely at the apostrophe you used after It? There are several varieties, and they sort differently. | | | Hans |
