I have been adding the different shorts which are on a DVD. I am refering to the `Walt Disney Treasures`.

I now have run into a 'problem'.
I think that a DVD which holds shorts, no matter if they're a bonus short (feature) or not, should be described (in cast/crew) as the other 'official' (what the DVD is about) shorts on a DVD.
I do agree that bonus material, i.e. documentaries et al., whoudl not be included in cast/crew, but shorts should.

In my opinion those shorts have the same quality and as much care has been made to those as the other (official) shorts in that collection. Maybe because there are too little of those they will never get their own DVD Collection (for example) so that is why those are put on that disc as 'bonus material'.
Therefore I think no matter a short is a bonus or 'officially' on the disc they should be handled with the same respect (I use respect because a lot of people worked hard on these cartoons) as the others.

I cannot find anything in the contribution rules on this specific topic, except "Do not list actors and crew who appear only in special features, or whose scenes were deleted from the main feature, even if they appear in special features".
In my opinion this isn't a 'special feature' like a documentary.

I'd like to know what your opinion is.

Please let me know if I wasn't clear enough describing the 'problem'.

I'm the one voting no on this contribution. (There was an undocumented BY as well though)

The title in question is the Complete Pluto volume two.

The cartoons in question are the Figaro shorts on disc two. These shorts are not available through the Play All function or through the alphabetical/chronological listings. They are available from the sub-menu "Bonus Features.

JP_S has added all the cartoons on most of the Treasures sets as empty dividers in the cast and crew list. No cast/crew listed, just the empty dividers. (I don't see the point in adding those without the cast/crew at the same time since the cartoons are already listed in the overview but that is just a personal preference. Personally I think it also is a bit harder to add full cast/crew into already existing dividers than building it from scratch. But again, personal preference, I haven't been voting no to those changes)

The Pluto set already has dividers with cast (documented uncredited) and crew set up. JP_S is adding empty dividers for the bonus shorts in the current cast/crew lists in chronological order. And this is what I'm protesting against:

1. We have never added any cast/crew for bonus features. Why should we add them here? (not that the contributor is adding cast/crew, he just adds the divider for it)

2. The order of dividers. Since these cartoons are only available from the bonus features, and not through the play all or the chronological/alphabetical listings these cartoons, if allowed in the cast/crew lists, should be added last. Not mixed in between main cartoons.

If I understand the situation, then I'm afraid I agree with Reybr.
Even if the DVD is full of shorts, a short that is available as a bonus feature still doesn't get cast & crew.

I agree... that is no different then TV Series with bonus episodes from other seasons or other series. IF they are marked on the case/menu as bonus then cast/crew shouldn't be contributed for those particular shorts/episodes.

What I do in such cases is contribute the feature shorts/episodes then go back and add the cast of the bonus shorts/episodes locally and lock it.

Okay,
Well that is clear. I'll remove bonus material information from the cast/crew list.
Since I have been rearranging I have been adding this information.
I have seen other titles where the same has been done (adding empty dividers w/o cast or crew) and apperantly those were allowed.
I still want to add cast and crew information as soon as I am going to view the titles.

I still can withdraw all changes no harm intended.

Alternately, you can treat the bonus shorts together as a Bonus Feature Film.  Create a child profile for them using the 2nd Disc ID (may not be acceptable for contribution per rules), or a manual profile (local by definition).  I plan to do this myself with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, my first Treasures collection.

This just sets in question again the need for an "episode" or "shorts" field tab.

I envision a tab that allows a list of episodes/shorts with titles, original airdates and maybe a third field for info. This would eliminate the confusion here. (Yes I added this request to the "what would you like to see in 3.5.1 thread?")

Season and Episode numbers would be good for non season type TV show releases.
