This follows from a question posted here, by Fingerlakes Dave, but it went unanswered.  I think the question stands on its own anyway.  The discussion there seems to have gotten stuck on Dave's second question (re: DiscID's). I'd like answers concerning the first. (Searched this forum, and this is the only topic anywhere close to my question - any search over 30 days times out.)

First, my 2 cents: I think "Double/Triple Feature" should be Edition, not part of title, and that's the way my personal DB is set up.  I believe this is covered in the first Title rule "Never add distinguishing factors to the title (such as "Widescreen" or "Special Edition"). Use the Edition field for these".  Clearly, these are Box Sets "Sets containing 2 films, one on each side of Dual-Sided DVD", but the Title rule in Box Sets states "The title for a Box Set should be the title listed on the front cover, for example Alien Quadrilogy".  Again, not exactly clear for DF/TF sets.  Each and every one of the dozens of these sets I have has the "Double Feature" markings on the cover set off in the same place (top of the artwork) as other DVDs have "Widescreen Collection" or "Collector's Edition", followed by mini-versions of the cover art of the individual films.  Look some of these up, they all follow the same pattern.

There are many examples of both ways found throughout the database, all exactly as listed (anything after "=" are my comments):

• Militant Eagle / The Prodigal Boxer = missing [Martial Arts Classics Double Feature]
• Major League 2 & Major League: Back to the = missing [Minors (Comedy Double Feature)]

as well as hundreds of entries in different variations of:

• Double Feature - title/title
• Double Feature: title/title
• Double Feature title/title
• title/title: Double Feature

As you can see, there are dozens of wrong ways these have been entered, but what is the correct way?  Can we make a determination as to what we want these to look like?

» There are entries in the form: Title/Title  (no spaces)
» There are entries in the form: Title / Title  (spaces before and after "/")
» There are entries in the form: Title & Title  ("&", which I think is completely wrong)

» There are entries in the form: Title/Title (DF)  (DF in Edition box)
» There are entries in the form: DF: Title/Title  (DF placed in actual title entry, as read "literally" from cover)
» There are entries in the form: Title/Title DF  (DF placed in actual title entry, poorly placed)

Some entries are great the way they exist, and should be left unchanged.  These are entries where the actual title of the package should have the DF/TF in the title, as in the following (where there is NOT individual film art on the cover, but pics of the star alone):
• UPC 883904101321 Bruce Willis Triple Feature, where "BRUCE WILLIS TRIPLE FEATURE" is the main selling point, followed by film titles in very small type.
• UPC 089218505798 John Wayne Triple Feature: Volume 1, where again "John WAYNE TRIPLE FEATURE: Volume 1" is the "star" of the show, followed by the film titles.

So, the questions, I believe, are:

1. Is the "Edition" box the correct (accepted) place for "Double/Triple Feature" and its variations?
2. Do we want entries in the form "Title/Title", or "Title / Title"? Spaces or not. I have no preference, just desire consistency.
3. Should entries with "&" joining two film titles be changed to "/" (as long as the ampersand "&" is clearly not on the DVD cover)?

I know this "question" went on a while, and I appreciate your having read this far.  I'd like to get this right the first time, and then we can point contributors to this thread in the future, if that is what gets agreed upon.
