Media Publisher...If we are going to submit changes, can we at least get it right the first time? |

| | Posted: | | | | I am seeing a lot of contributions for this field that, assuming I understand what people were after for this field, are going to need correcting in the future. As an example, I am seeing a ton of contributions where BVHE is simply being moved from the studio field to the publisher field. BVHE is not the 'publisher', it is the distributor...something everyone who wanted this particular field said they didn't care about. Please, if you are going to submit changes to this field, at least take a look at the back of the case to see if there is a 'publisher' logo. If there is, enter that name. I know it is easier to simply copy and paste, but how does that help if the data is wrong?  | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.

If/when this happens, all companies involved in releasing the DVD - production, distribution etc - will go in that field. Therefore at the moment I don't think it matters particularly if people are putting distributors in the single field we have in 3.5.0, as it will end up in the right place in the next version.
That's the basis I've been using for my votes on contributions anyway. |

| | Posted: | | | | Well I think part of the reason for expanding the field to three entries was that nobody could agree on exactly what constitutes a "publisher". Since there's no consensus on that, it's not really possible in my opinion to declare contributions right or wrong. So yes, if you disagree with a change I would just vote neutral until 3.5.1 is released. |

Thanks a lot, guys. I see anything other than first priority going to data as we have entered it and I will vte NO, the ummmm data they want can WAIT for more fields.
I am trying to be polite and not call these people what i really think they are. Yes that includes James, amongst others.

| | Posted: | | | | Just to clarify my position on this, I think we should be putting in the Media Publisher now as defined in the current Rules, however, I will not vote "no" if the Distributor is put in by mistake and will not try to correct such a mistake by contributing the Media Publisher instead.
Whatever goes in now, will probably need to stay once we get all three fields, so why take it out now and put it back in later. I know it's technically against the current Rules, but we also know that will change in the next version.
Granted we don't know when 3.5.1 is coming, but, personally, I'm going to remain optimistic that it will be sooner rather than later. | | | | Hal |
