Just curious, am happy to correct anything and resubmit.  It was for Doomsday UPC 065935-818588.  The profile is mostly fine, but has no cast at all.  I copied the cast from UPC 8857007-058778 which was very complete, and then scanned in my cover as I found the one available a bit faded and a little too green.  They were the only changes I made, and I included these comments :

"Copied cast list from DVDP UPC 8857007-058778
Scanned in front and back cover.  Previous scan was correct, but washed out.  New scan is more vibrant, better colour depth, does not have a greenish tinge."

There were no votes on my contribution, it was simply declined.  I have had many contributions accepted, and some declined.  All previous declines were accompanied by a reason, which I then corrected.  This one was not, so I don't know what to correct.  Any way I can contact the decliner to ask why?

Thanks,
DD.

You make no indication that you verified the copied data, you may believe it to be complete, but unless you have verified it against the actual data, I would have been forced toi vote No. perhaps Gerri felt the same way. ALWAYS verify copied data, there is much incorrect data that has managed to find its way into the database, just because something was approved does not make it correct.

As far as we're aware, Gerri deals with most of the accepting/declining so if you need a response you could try contacting her. It might've been a simple error or she felt the existing cover was better or the new one wasn't a significant improvement. Of course, depending on how busy they are it might take some time. That said, I recently contacted her and had a response back within a few hours.

The biggest reason for a denial when copying cast is if you've copied uncredited cast along with the rest. If there's documentation for the uncredited cast on the original profile, you need to copy that documentation over too.
Either that or delete the uncredited cast.
Check there's no stray birth years in the cast list too.

Gerri handles contributions that are passed up for second approval by the front-line evaluators.  If you have a contribution declined, first check to see whether a reason was posted.  If none was posted, read the contribution votes.  Virtually all declines are explained in one of these two areas.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  That's why I posted : 0 Yes 0 No and no reason given for the decline.  Both of my other declines had reasons given (UPC did not match cover image), however this one does not.

Thanks,
DD.

Hi Skip,

Having read through this forum, I am not going to open that can of worms.  Suffice it to say that this contributions had zero votes, neither for nor against.

The screeners only have access to a certain number of "stock" rejections. If the reason they rejected yours isn't in them, that explains why none was given as they don't have the ability to type in a non-standard rejection.
Looking at the two profiles you used, I can see no problem with the cast list as I compared it to mine and it matched with only some minor formatting differences in the role names.
The only thing I did notice was that it had a locality of Canada (Quebec), and I thought that locality was to be used for the french version of the profile and the Canada locality was for the english version.
It's possible that the screeners simply made a mistake - you could always try resubmitting.

In this case it looks like an evaluator error.  I've forced the approval.

Yeah, the old locality bugaboo.  In Canada, we end up with the French film title in smaller print on the cover, it's always hard to say if we have the "Canada" locality or the "Canada (Quebec)" one.  However, I have seen other forum posters who state if they have a reversible cover with the French name in large letters and the English in small on the back of their existing cover, then they consider that the Quebec locality.  In this case, that is exactly what I have.

For my own submissions, I always choose "Canada" since that is where I buy my DVDs and I don't usually buy them in Quebec.  However, I have a large number of DVDs which match exactly what I have, but which were downloaded via UPC from DVDP with locality set to "United States".  For those ones, if the cover image is an exact match, I just leave them as is.  If the cover image is missing the French text (and mine has it), then I change locality which makes it a new submission.

Hey, we all make mistakes.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

There has been a couple of times I have written to Gerri on a rejection and her reply was,,
