| Posted: | | | | Hello, Recently my Harddrive on my computer completely crashed and pretty much lost everything including dvd profiler, however I did manage to make a copy of the data base which included the dvd cover artwork etc onto a blank dvd disk. I am currently back to using my old Compaq PC(win 2000, down from XP), and I am getting a new Hard drive next week. Could someone help me out and tell me how I could find the file on my blank dvd so I can upload it back onto dvd profiler, both for the compaq and also eventually the new Harddrive. What is the file that I need to find(blank dvd) and also in dvdprofiler, what do I need to do for the file to be found there so it can be read and copied back onto the data base? Any help would be most apreciated( it would be for PC and not Mac). Thanks | | | Last edited: by bluraydude |

| Posted: | | | | It's a snap. Once you get DVD Profiler up and running again, just stick the DVD in the DVD_ROM drive and from the menu goto File>Restore Database and direct it to your DVD-ROM drive. The file name is probably backup.dpd but Profiler should find it itself if it's on the DVD. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | did you use DVD Profiler to Backup? Then like 8ballMax says. If not how did you retrieve and what? A standard DVD Profiler is like this: C:\My Documents\DVD Profiler\Databases\Default\ if your database name was Default I think you shoul also retrieve the Databases.dod that can be found in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\DVD Profiler\ where Administrator is the name of the Windows User Login like Dave or Giga Wizard, the user that loged in and used DVD Profiler on that computer. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | Firstly, thanks for the responses- I really apreciated all your help. Unfortunately, I can't find the file - at the moment I am in- between computers, my previous computer(PC) crashed last wednesday, and at the moment I am using a older compaq(also PC), which has win2000. My newer PC which I hope to get in the next day or so will have Win XP on it, the compaq that I am using at the moment doesn't have a DVD Burner/Rom drive on it(I have to use my older extrenal Liteon DVD rom drive, plugged into my PC via a USB). I don't know why I can't find the file that I need to reload all my stuff from my database, maybe it is the dvd-rom that I am using. Worst comes to the worst, I will have to manually re-enter my whole dvd collection on my new computer when I get it. Once again, thanks to all who tried to help me...... |

Once again, thanks to all who tried to help me...... Sorry to hear you can't locate the backup file. If worse comes to worse, you can always restore your database by downloading your online collection. Of course any custom covers you may have added will be lost but at least you won't have to enter each title individually. Good luck. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |
