Fine, hal. then please don't make comments that reflect laziness, like "ease of data entry". As I have said, I have high standards and would like to see that reflected more instead shortcuts and such that will only weaken the product we are working on.

I have no idea what you are talking about.  Hal is throwing out suggestions for discussion.  He can use whatever comments he wants to justify his suggestions.

That is a tad insulting.  It assumes that you are the only one who knows the best way to do things.  We are trying to figure this out as a group.  Comments like this do nothing but turn people off.  Please stop.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Fact remains, I refuse to listen to a WORD that you say, as long as you're ordering people around. Until you stop that sort of elitist behavior, your opinion means absolutely nothing to me. Plain and simple. This is a new venture, and many of us simply aren't going to put up with the crap you've been pulling for years. You might have been able to get away with that when Ken wasn't around the program...but guess what? Things are different now, and while you've never spoken for the creator of this program, you can't even maintain that facade anymore.

Someone (Unicus or Hal, I don't honestly remember) threw out some suggestions for rules, and instead of debating in an educated manner, you simply state WRONG, WRONG, WRONG on his suggestions. This is not constructive.
"I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question:
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?

No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
different. I chose the impossible. I chose…
Rapture."

You may consider anything you wish insulting, Unicus. I am operating based on the experience of what I have seen for a long time now. I am also guilty sometimes, and like everyone else before the discovery of Ken's prohibition of that other Db , I was being just as lazy as everyone else, I am human (shhhh don't tell anybody, it's a well kept secret  )

Then why do you bother to involve yourself and respond. , and your opinion is of value to me  , not by someone who specializes in personal jabs. You have some real good knowledge of non-constructive comments, you haven't made any....yet. I am waiting.

If the opinions of other users are of value to you, then start acting like it, and get off your pedestal. You are not above anyone else. You contribute a lot, yes. That does not give you the right to run down the ideas and suggestions of others, and insist everything be done your way. This won't happen here. You have to learn to give a little. What you said above is of course the correct thing to say, but let's see you practice it.

END OF BICKERING
==============================================================

Let's all try to get back on track. I suggest we throw out examples, and debate them. If there's no debate, perfect - we can use a name and accept it. Right now, we're saying the same things over and over. Let's stop that, and start getting things done.

Last off-topic comment from me, replying to your edit. I certainly do have knowledge of non-constructive comments. I apologized publicly to Ken, because I was wrong for that. As far as I'm concerned, that's the end of that. I won't have you tossing that up every chance you get. This is a new beginning for everyone. I'm here to contribute and be an active part of the community as in the past. Let's all do that, and stop the other nonsense.

Good I hope so, chilbul and I will take you at your word. However, based on recent past performance I hope you will pardon me if I am bit skeptical.

To be fair, we weren't many users that contributed to the Viewer alias file. We had only a few rules we tried to follow:
- Had the name an appendix like Jr. then these were added without comma followed by a colon
"Freddie Prinze Jr." instead of "Freddie Prinze, Jr."

- Names with nicknames as MiddleName always with double quotes instead of single quotes (mainly because that is the most used form)

These I'd fully agree with!

With all the garbage in this thread, can we restart this and clean the slate. There is way too much non-sense for others to wade through.
