Are we allowed to use Wikipedia as a source when contributing, or is this considered a third party db?

Personally I use it regarding production, CoO and general information - not for getting the Cast and Crew - and they also have useful links most times.

What say ye?

Do not use a third party database as your sole source. When contributing, cite multiple sources when possible. And yes, Wikipedia is a third party db. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using these sites as a reference.

That said, Wikipedia is a free and none-profitable foundation.
According to their Copyrights page, you CAN copy from them... as long as the material falls into the public domain or "fair use" criteria.

True, but since it's user driven like "that other site" I believe it cannot be used as a reliable source.

I've seen more mistakes on it than on "that other site" so definitely not a reliable 'single source' but I do use it for reference.

I agree... I personally wouldn't use it at all... but definitely can't be used as a sole source of information.

If you pronounce TWSNBN's true name, it opens the portals of hell and unleashes Satan's minions to wreak mayhem and destruction upon the users of DVD Profiler .

That's not a very nice thing to say about "Maurice & John"

Wiki isn't a terribly reliable resource, but sometimes the information is properly sourced and you can use it to get at more solid sources.  Just be careful how you use it.
