| Posted: | | | | I just stumbled across that great idea of facebook.com and its open platform for developers and I think I'm in love It would be really great to see an official dvdprofiler-app for that social network. Any chances to see something like that happening any time soon? Kind regards, Daniel |

| Posted: | | | | Actually, having just done some integration with a website I run using the facebook API, I can see some advantages to having a DVD Profiler app on facebook.
To start with, you could easily compare collections between friends - total DVDs, shared titles, friends who have titles you want etc. You could do the "lending library" part quite easily too.
But what would be really nice is the news feed side where you'd get notifications on DVDs as your friends added them to their collections. Instead of having to manually check all their online pages, you'd now have a single point to check (your news feed) showing who added what.
And then there's the "viral" aspect of these applications - the more people who use them, the more friends who see them and think "hmmm sounds good", add it to their own profile (including hopefully signing up to DVD Profiler too!) and pass on the word. Just another way to boost subscription numbers. It worked for my site! |

| Posted: | | | | Just Curious,
I do not know anything about Facebook and had never heard of it before this thread and I was wondering why everyone is making such strong objections. I have no opinion on this and am looking for a little enlightenment here nothing more.

| Posted: | | | | I was actually getting it mixed up with Faceparty.
Facebook good.
Faceparty bad.
There is already at least one movie app in Faceparty that shows DVD covers but it's not a patch on what could be done if linked with the user's DVDProfiler account. | | | Last edited: by Squirrelecto |

| Posted: | | | | I'm in total agreement with foilman. I'm not usually one for these people sites, but Facebook is a pretty decent site and after just searching for dvd applications I came across 2 which are pretty poor compared to a DVD Profiler plugin. |

| Posted: | | | | Sounds like an excellent idea. Anything that raises the profile (and the number of users) of the program is good....
....except for those who want to keep DVDProfiler a private little secret for some reason. |

....except for those who want to keep DVDProfiler a private little secret for some reason. That's what I had in mind - it would be great to gather new users - from a marketing point of view this move is a no-brainer.. I don't know why some people get upset because of Facebook. Maybe they are mixing it up with MySpace (which is UGLY to look at and attracting another kind of crowd). All I'm asking for is something like phpDVDProfiler - to display my recently watched DVDs on a facebook profile without reentering all my DVDs again (there are two DVD facebook apps out there), and maybe display my whole collection. Sorry I must be missing the obvious, I can recommend allfacebook.com to get an idea of facebook - that's where I got my information before I really decided to register. Quoting foilman: Quote:

I didn't even think about the news feed feature For all the hell no sayers -> you don't want it -> don't use it but I'm pretty sure you too would like to see our beloved DVD-Profiler succeed. More users -> more development budget -> more features for us, the users. It's a win-win. | | | Last edited: by sondani |

| Posted: | | | | As a relative newcomer to Facebook I'm keen to see apps which are useful in sharing news, views and ideas between friends rather than all the inane 'poking' and 'gifting'. I think a DVD Profiler app would be a great way of sharing my particular love of the medium with my friends and perhaps also to get ideas for new titles to feed my addiction! And, of course, it would be a great way for Invelos to have the word spread about this rather fine program. I see win-win |
