Name links in overview section works again now, unfortunately the handling of duplicate entries is no more possible.

Just a little question:

Can the javascript handle alias names in overview section (show them as credited), or the 'common' name only?

I have to admit that I didn't take this into consideration when changing the skin. But it is easy to change the javascript, so that as credited is used.
I have done so now and uploaded it again.

Brand new beta release: Version 3.0.0

As nobody was interested to do beta testing, I am going into the public beta testing stage earlier than planned with the hope to get some feedback.
The more feedback I get, the more often I will make new beta releases.

Version 3 is re-implemented completely from scratch, so not all features from the old version are yet implemented. But I have already a bunch of new features to offer.

Version 3 installs into a different folder than Version 2, therefore you can use both in parallel. Also you can use the same databases as with 2, but I recommend to do a backup first.

A German translation file is available for download in-program via File->Online Update->Translation. I welcome additional translations.

Here a list of the changes:
3.0.0 (beta)
New: Redesign (migration to .NET 4)
New: New logo designed by norbi_et_orbi
New: Charts/Graphs based on SQL queries (including build-in charts)
New: Scripting support to directly access and change data (not yet documented, if you want to learn more about this feature, please contact me)
New: Macros which are run on certain action (e.g. profile selected)
New: Unicode support (e.g. Asian characters are now supported)
New: Proper boxset nesting
New: Grouping of collection list by first letter
New: Multiple skins can be shown at once in default view (previously only one at once could be shown in Profile Information window
New: Progress shown in task bar (only in Windows 7 upwards)
New: Support of SQLite database format besides MSAccess format (though it still has performance issues)
New: .NET DLL for accessing the database (as abstract objects)
Change: All information from "Profile Information" window integrated into main window
Change: Most important profile information on one tab

Discontinued (currently no plan to support it):
- DVD Profiler 2 Import
- Headshots download
- change tracking via SVN
- Translation import/export as text file (currently only xml file supported)

Discontinued features: Will only be implemented on request:
- IMDb data import (text files available on IMDb for download)
- update of old databases (pre 2.7)

Still needs to be implemented:
- DVD Profiler 2 Export
- Award editor (implementation started)
- Headshot wizard / manager
- Editing of profiles (partially done)
- Editing of episodes
- Command file support
- Random profile selection
- Loaned Due display
- filtering of collection list
- special ordering of collection list
- editing of crew mapping
- editing of alias entries

As a preview, here a few comparison shots between old and new version:
Profile view (old version)
Profile view (new version)
Episode view (old version)
Episode view (new version)

Please give feedback:
- What do you like
- What do you not like
- Have you found bugs
- Which of the not yet implemented features should have higher prio
- Are there additional features you would like

Download CCViewer 3

It is a tool to manage your collection like in DVD Profiler. You can import your Profiler collection. Originally it started while DVD Profiler 2.5 was in beta and seemed to be in hiatus. At the time I had started a project to collect episode specific cast and crew data because it was promised that a future Profiler release can handle it. As a means to have practical purposes for it, I had written this tool to be able to browse this data.
When Profiler 3 came around which could manage episodes using episode dividers, the data which was collected during this project was mostly transferred to Profiler. But I continued with this tool because I was not happy about the episode handling in Profiler. In CCViewer the episodes are standalone and can be linked to profiles. Each episode can have all the information like cast, crew, watched dates, overview, runtime, review, etc.
Also CCViewer has many more features, which were either not available yet at the time in Profiler 2 but are now part of Profiler 3 (like headshots, crosslinking, custom crew) or are still not available in Profiler 3 (SQL Queries, HTML export, award editor, additional infos). Also awards were first introduced in CCViewer and when Profiler 3 offered a plugin interface, I have written a plugin which can also show the awards data from a CCViewer database.

This new beta version is a complete overhaul of this tool.

Is there a version for Android?

Just kidding.

But I repeatedly get this window...

when I switch to the "Skins" tab.

And the same or similar exception when I "File -> New Database... -> Save"
(it's not possible to save a new database).

Especially the last error kind of limits the usability at the moment.

Thanks!
Sorry about this. A recent change caused the creation of databases to fail.

I have fixed it now and uploaded it.

Therefore:
New version 3.0.1 beta available:
Fix: Creating of new databases
New: Assign episodes available via context menu
New: Syntax highlighting in SQL Queries

Still always exceptions with 3.0.1 when trying to create a database in SQLite format:

System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'System.Object[]' to type 'System.String[]'.

MS Access works (but can't remember if I also tried this format earlier with 3.0.0).

Can you reproduce the "Skins" exception when no database is opened (happens only with the Skins tab)?

Yes, the SQLite problem has also been reported to me after the last release. I have fixed it for the next release.

Also the skins exception I could reproduce and will also be fixed with the next release. Thanks!

Also I notice now, that due to another recent change, you will have to reopen the database after import of new data to be able to see the new data
It will be fixed with the next release.
