I'm surprised by these results.
No Indiana Jones or E.T.?
No classic Disney animations (only new ones)?
That many people actually bought Blade, Collateral, The Bourne Supremacy and American Beauty???  I can understand the "big event" films, but those flicks seem like rental fodder to me...geez I can't believe Collateral is the #12 most reported purchase...

Why ? "Collateral" is a masterpiece in the action/thriller genre - definitely one of my top 20 all time favorite movies and one of my most watched DVDs. I absolutely adore Michael Mann's style plus it was one of Tom Cruise's best career performances.

About Ken's list: If I understood it right, it's a list about top UPCs, not top films. As we all know many movies are released in different versions and sometimes even with different UPCs for the same version (but different security systems). So I guess the list consists mainly of movies that weren't released with too many different UPCs and thus most people have the same version.

While that sounds logical, I truly doubt that is correct because by my calculations I see at least 8 versions (several R1s at that) of Terminator 2, which would mean there are many UPCs for that movie out there!!!

I own every title on Ken's list.  None of the titles he listed shocks me at all.

I retract my surprise over "American Beauty."
It was released on DVD in 2000, just as many people were buying their first DVD player and the title selection was not so abundant.  So I'm sure when trying to build up a collection, many people grabbed that title due to its Best Picture Oscar status and nothing else catching their eye.
Later winners like Chicago, A Beautiful Mind and Million Dollar Baby had a lot more competition.  I wonder if they break into the top 100?
