| Posted: | | | | I recently got a DVD recorder and was thinking of start putting them into DVD Profiler to keep track of them.
I was just wondering if anyone is putting their home recorded DVD's into DVD Profiler. |

| Posted: | | | | Several people do that. It's just a matter of keeping them local, and not contributing those to the online database, as they are not "true" DVDs.
Edit (after reading Pixie's post): I was referring to TV recorded shows, etc. Not DVD copies, of course. | | | With every passing hour our solar system comes forty-three thousand miles closer to globular cluster M13 in the constellation Hercules, and still there are some misfits who continue to insist that there is no such thing as progress. | | | Last edited: by Skywatcher |

| Posted: | | | | I have been toying with using it to keep track some old VHS tapes of movies that are not yet out on DVD! |

| Posted: | | | | If I've taped something that I know I want to keep, then yes I add them to my local db. If it's a movie I'll sometimes even pick an online profile just so I get all the juicy info! |

| Posted: | | | | I have some that were VHS that can't be found on DVD, but you have to keep them in your local DB as the UPC/EAN would be for VHS tape and not a true DVD. As per rules you must not contribute these to the online DB. | | | DVD Profiler for iOS as of 3/5/2013 DVD Profiler for Android as of 5/17/2013 |

It is so often written in these forums that it bears the accusation that anyone who asks a question is trying to do it. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | I don't think it's an accusation Karsten. If the person is doing the question, it means that he/she doesn't know the procedure. And that information of non-contribution is (an important) part of the procedure. The reply wouldn't be complete without it. And it's better to give the info right away than wait and see if the person (naively) will contribute it or not so that you can ask Ken/Gerri to remove it from the DB. Or at least giving extra work to Gerri on having to invalidate/refuse that contribution. Of course if we had said something along the lines of "*Don't you even think to contribute it to the OnlineDB!!!*" that would have been annoying and not nice all around. But I don't think that has been the case with any of the replies.

| Posted: | | | | I personally have re-captured all of my home movies of my children and my grandchildren from VHS to DVD. I either used manual dvd numbers or suedo UPC numbers. They are in my local db and in my online profile listing. I would never even consider trying to contribute them to the main db primarily because they are of interest only to me. If you are interested in how the profiles look, just look at my online listing. The ones in the top of the listing that are titled "Cody this and Cody that' are of my grandson. I have authored them with chapter selection and did a quite nice jacket and disc label for them. | | | NightHawke Wherever I go, there I am!? |

I was just wondering if anyone is putting their home recorded DVD's into DVD Profiler. Yes, I do. I have a couple of hundred DVDs I've authored myself with a variety of stuff on them. I'm using a copy of 2.5 for them, and do the profiles using DISC ID. Works exactly the same as a commercial disc. | | | John

| Posted: | | | | We have just fired up a new DVD recorder, and we are beginning to make DVDs from the video tapes we have of our daughter's ice skating performances and competitions. I indend to enter them into my collection's profiler local database, but there is no reason at all for me to submit these profiles into the main Ivelos Profiler database, because no one else gets one!
I will get screenshots to create covers for the DVDs we make, and store them in the collection in slim keepcases. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | The beauty of this new version is multiple dbs. If I were to start profiling family movies, I think it would be in a dedicated db rather than mixing them in with "regular" DVDs. | | | Kevin |

| Posted: | | | | I renamed the wishlist and ordered tabs. One for VHS and the other for recorded TV. That way I keep them all seperate. This way there they will never be contributed. | | | Last edited: by Bill MacNeill |

| Posted: | | | | I've put all my recorded TV shows in another database (or did have) - I've had tp put them back at the moment into my main DB so I can put them on pocket profiler.. Also, when adding them I used the EAN for the dvd version of the program - if this existed - so I get all the updates etc for them.. Also, I've added a tag just for home recorded stuff so I can easily separate them out.. | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | Yep, all my Home movies, VHS and Laserdisc conversions are listed in my profiler. I've added a tag for these custom DVDs as well. |
