| Posted: | | | | Hi would like to see the addition of an "Archival Footage" checkbox, to go along with "Voice" and "Uncredited" for cast member "Role Played" selection window.
"Archival Footage" is when a clip or a flashback of an actor is used, within another movie. The actor's role will be appeneded with (archive footage) at the end credits of the movie.
Example #1: Footage from Back to the Future with Crispin Glover was used in Back to the Future II, so they gave him this credit "Crispin Glover: George McFly in footage from BACK TO THE FUTURE."
Example #2: In "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" there was a montage of all the murders from parts 1, 2, and 3 - so each of the actors who appeared in that montage was giving an (archival footage) credit at the end of the fourth movie. Example #3: Movie documentaries and featurettes which use clips from films have note after each of the performers' names whose clips were used in the documentary. Examples of this include the "AFI's 100 Years, 100 Movies: American Film Institute", "The Celluoid Closet", "Terror in the Aisles", etc...
Now, I'm not sure if "archive footage" is the best term to use, but I see it's what many internet credit sites are using consistently. Each movie might use different wordings in the credits.
I think this is used in enough productions credits that it would be a useful item to add to the DVD Profiler database.
Any thoughts? |

| Posted: | | | | If we enter the role names exactly as they appear in the cast list in the actual movie, we do not need this. Ex. the role of Crispin Glover is actually "George McFly in footage from BACK TO THE FUTURE". Of course that needs some abbreviation, like "George McFly in footage from BttF". Why do we then need a checkbox to tell the same thing again? |

Other than that, I agree with jykke. If they are credited, we credit them as well. If they are not credited, you can add them with the (uncredited) check box. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

Future example... ya_shin and jykke, it makes sense what you say; we can just enter them as credited. |

| Posted: | | | | I don't like this archive footage going on in many profiles. A guy shows up in some old footage, played back on a TV in the background for 3 seconds and he gets a credit?
The we might as well include (on wall poster).
Don't like it.

/Mikkel I think the idea is that it's only used if they are credited in the actual film credits as being in archive, otherwise you're right - it's a really bad idea! |

| Posted: | | | | I agree Krik, you add a checkbox for archival footage and every time a TV is shown, who ever is on the screen is going to be added. If the film credits list an archival credit, then add it, otherwise leave them out or keep them local. | | | Kevin |

| Posted: | | | | Noting in the credits that an actor is only appearing in archive footage is important, so that users will know that it isn't really one of those actor's real movies when looking up which movies that person has appeared in; then can safely avoid checking out the related film. |

| Posted: | | | | It was decided some time back that archival footage seldom carried any significant value, Doom, therefore the Rule was written, so shall it be.
