Google have removed support for 32-bit apps like the Android version of DVD Profiler in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.  Most future 64-bit phones will also lose the ability to run 32-bit apps.  So for newer phones, its no longer possible to side load the app, use Amazon App Store etc. Details on why Google has pulled support for 32-bit apps is here:

Google explains the Pixel 7 is 64-bit only, says 32-bit apps still have roles to play

If there are no plans to update the Android, this seems like the end of the line. Any chance that DVD Profiler can be recompiled for 64-bit and resubmitted to the Amazon App Store and Google Play?

Mind you, the Amazon App Store is 32-bit only right now, so that's another hurdle.

Thank you for this.  Explains why it could install on my Pixel 6A but not my new Pixel 7.
Invelos, another vote to get it recompiled for 64 bit.

I don't think I'm having the same experience here.  Is side-loading when you transfer the app from 1 phone to another or am I totally confused?

In July we switched from T-Mobile to AT&T and we upgraded my Galaxy Note 10+ to a Galaxy S22 Ultra (among other phones).  DVD Profiler was working fine on the old phone and the app was copied over to my new phone.  The app has always opened up on the new phone but it could never download my online collection.  It would always hang while trying to download information and sooner or later I'd always have to cancel the download.  I tried downloading my collection MANY times over the months since then (the last time being about a month ago) but always without success.

Then, earlier this afternoon I accidentally clicked on DVD Profiler when I tried to open something else.  I closed DVD Profiler quickly at that time and went on with the other application.  An hour or so ago I noticed that there was still a DVD Profiler window open on my phone.  I looked at the screen, saw a warning about this program being designed for an older version of Android and asking if I still wanted to give it the same permissions that it had before.  I clicked that, yes, I still wanted it to have the same permissions.

Since the app was open, I went ahead and tried to download my list and this time, for the first time on this phone, the collection downloaded and I can see the whole thing on my new phone.  Hallelujah!

I realize that this isn't really a 32-bit vs 64-bit question but something changed for me today that's been a problem since last July.  If this post should be moved to a new topic, that's fine with me but if copying DVD Profiler from 1 phone to another is side-loading, then side-loading worked for me today when it hadn't really worked for me previously.

Thanks,
GWGuen

I recently installed DVD Profiler on a new Sony Xperia 10 IV. (Sideloaded, as in installed from an apk I had previously saved to my GDrive.) After ignoring the old application warning, it installed fine and is fully working.

I'm finding that it's not working as well. I think it sideloaded when I upgraded this week to a Galaxy S22 ultra. Program loads and started to download my collection, but it stalled out and now the wheel just spins. It doesn't appear to be on the PLAY store any longer so I'm hesitant to delete and re-install.

It also wont let me delete the database that started to load so I'm really stuck.
