Quick question.  I hope...

Just image if you will, a keep case with two, doubled sided discs in it. Each side has a separate feature film on it, (so four films in all).

Do we make a box set and then add each film as a separate child profile?  How do we indicate the double-sided nature of the discs in this case?

or

Make a box set and then two child 'sub' box-sets (one for each disc) and then one child profile containing both films to the relevant sub box set, (a bit like episodes for a TV series or a compilation of shorts)?

or

Make a box set and then two child 'sub' box-sets (one for each disc) and then two child profiles to each of these relevant sub box-sets, one for each film?  Again, how do we indicate the double-sided nature of the discs in this case?

or (dare I say it)

Something else.

I've seen a few different ways of doing this within existing profiles, so am not sure which is the best way to do them now.  Thanks people!
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

Yes.

That would be contained in the Disc Information section of the profile.

If each side has 2 films on it, you will have to make alternate discID profiles for the 2nd film of each side, using the same covers as each of the 1st sides.
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

For your situation, this is how I would configure the Box Set profile:

Parent UPC
  + child Disc1 sideA ID
  + child Disc1 sideB ID
  + child Disc2 sideA ID
  + child Disc2 sideB ID

Alternate Disc ID profile not required as only one film per side.

Suggest you describe the box set physical configuration (that is, Keep Case containing two, double-sided discs, with separate film on each disc side) in the parent profile submission.

Each film will have its own UNIQUE Disc ID, so your concern regarding the double-sided nature of the discs is not an issue. Adding sideA and sideB disc IDs in each child profile would be invalid as no film spanned both sides.

Ah. I misread that.

Yeah. You treat it as a four DVD set, as each side has its own Disc ID.

Thanks for the replies people.

I think an 'empty' box set profile with four child profiles (one per film) is my preferred option too.
