This not about anything than asking for an explanation of what went into this erroneous ruling. You and Ken can claim all you wish that it is not a precedent, but then you don't know our users very well. A precedent has indeed been set, one of the questions now is where is the line or more appropos where is the Rule.

Explanation: because Ken said so. Simple as that. It's Ken's site, Ken's program, Ken's users, not yours, not "ours." Do you write the program and pay for development costs? Do you foot the bandwidth and ISP bills? Are you an employee of Invelos? How dare you! You have got a LOT of gall. HOW it is possible at all that Ken tolerates you is beyond human comprehension. On ANY other site you would have been PERMBANNED a LONG time ago.

Sorry, Grendell. I don't buy that. Never have never will. I want an explanation as to the logic that was applied to such an outrageous decision. Where do we go to determine the title. How far afield are we to look. It may be enough for you and some that Ken said so, but not me. I designed the Rule system and I KNOW beyond a doubt what the title of Tron should be per the Rules. And I want to understand what is behind this decision, the decision is important to be sure but so is the background.

Good god man.
First of all:

Second:

Third and finally:
JUST LOOK AT THE LOGO:

No it does not bbbb. Read the Rules, we take the title from the front cover and apply standard caps.

I am sorry, but the rules do not tell us to use 'Standard Caps'.  They tell us, simply, to "Check capitalization of the title."  No more, no less.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.

We have come a long way. Now we discuss what might  have been the intention of Ken Cole's exception to his own Rules.

There is no 'might' involved here.  As Ken has, in no uncertain terms, stated that the title is 'TRON', his intent is quite clear.

Well, we could find a lot of sources to "check" the capitalization of various titles.

Yes, we could.  What's your point?

Looks to me like it should be entered as °|RO, and then an inverted "4" and an upside down "1". Who's with me?

I'm not... I don't see a "°|R" there neither a "TRO"
So leaving the not enterable letters out, I'll end up with "O LEGACY"...

And further on it says: For non-English titles, use capitalization rules common to the language of the title. Which implies that capitalization rules should be followed for English titles as well.

Perhaps so, Hal. I have mentioned that I might lookat Tron Legacy, but TRON itself is NOT an exception to the Rules. It is a part of a word  and not like M*A*S*H at all. I just want to here about the logic applied not just the ruling. It is not logical nor rational as near as I can tell, but based soley on the whims of a user. The whim of the week will cause us immeasurable problems and already has.

No, because, right above that, it says: For English titles do not capitalize joining words such as "of", "the", "a", "in", etc. unless they are the first, last or only word of the title. "Lord of the Rings" is correctly capitalized. "Lord Of The Rings" is not. "The Matrix Reloaded" is correctly capitalized. "The matrix reloaded" is not.

None of this, however, matters as the rules don't address titles that are meant to be ALL CAPS.  These rules only address titles that are meant to be in mixed case.

Well what about mixed cased English titles such as They Call Me MISTER Tibbs! That's how the original film title was spelled, and that's how it is in the database currently.

The rule is stupid. It assumes that no film title with mixed case in the English speaking world ever had a joining word that was capitalized

Seriously who the hell makes these rules

Yes

A press release is a valid source nowadays. Besides that LEGACY is all caps everywhere else.

So the Title of the sequel is TRON: LEGACY. Right?
