And when Vader died he was an old man and not some young dude who couldn't act if his life depended on it. To be honest, I don't mind all the changes he's made. Ian McDermid in Empire - I have no problem with that. A few more X-Wings flying to attack the first DS? Okay, why not. Ugly looking Jabba in Hope? Big problem. Fireworks on Coruscant directly after the Emperror's death? Unlikely. End melody of Jedi? Sounds awful. Grease Yub-nub is the word! | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

I first seen the original Star Wars on ITV here back in the 90's. That was before the 97 releases. My dad recorded them to VHS as well at the time. So i seen a lot before it was altered. My dad would do that a lot for me. Remember having a recorded copy of Ghostbusters as well. Which i wore down from watching to much. And i had strange fascination for 3 Men And Baby My mum loved that film. |

| Posted: | | | | Well I've only watched IV and V so far but, for me the most cringeworthy change up til now has to be the new Krayt dragon call.
It wont stop me watching these releases time and time again however. |

Apparently i do remember a lot of things. Even the time i stood up and spoke for the first time on the sofa. Watching as the coal lorry went past, and pointing. I said look there goes the coal lorry. My mum in shock that not only had i spoken my first words. But also my first sentence I say i process things more visually though. So i guess that's why i remember film more. I remember back in my days a kid having an anime tape. Always wondered what it was again. Don't know if any one can help. But it featured a war between two factions. One was more industrial with guns. The other used crossbows. There was also some love affair between i think a prince of one faction and the princess of another. They both committed suicide in it, by shooting themselves in the head. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

| Posted: | | | | simple reason.. Before Star Wars came along in the late 70's the vast majority of films were 35 mm and then in the sixties there was Cinerama but not not since 1968 when both 2001 and Ice Station Zebra were among the last of that genre .. Ben Hur and the like in the 50's were in super widescreen and maybe even 70 mm but when the films stopped being that big the screens came down .... George helped to change all this ....... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Not many Star Wars related, since it didn't show up here until the winter of 1977-78. I think I must have seen it in January 1978 with my dad. And the soundtrack I heard was most likely mono. Not that I paid much attention, once the film started I was carried away to another place and time. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

I was a film student in 1977. GI bill, with my wife working part time. We went to movie theaters five to ten times every week between classes (she worked evenings so I either took our 6-year old and 1-year-old with me when I attended evening films, or I had my mother or grandmother watch them). Star Wars opened at noon on a Wednesday at the same theater which had its grand opening to the widescreen version of Gone with the Wind in '67 or early '68 (I believe it was fall '67). We bought or tickets, they gave us a program each and a button reading May the Force Be with You. I still have my program and button (but not that wife). There were maybe two dozen viewers in the large theater. We went back Thursday afternoon (not the noon showing, but the one after that) and we got another program and button each (I gave that program away, I think I still have the second button somewhere) and there were maybe a hundred people in the theater. Five buddies decided to go to see it Friday, so I went with them early Friday evening. By then, the theater had an outside line you waited in to buy a ticket (I had never encountered this before) and we were among the last allowed to buy tickets for the next showing. We had to sit in the front row, far right. That Saturday night, my wife and I took our kids to see it at the local drive-in. A few years later, when The Empire Strikes Back debuted, we took both kids to see it on opening day. My daughter (who was not quite 4 years old) immediately noticed the resmblance of Frank Oz's Yoda voice to a certain Sesame Street muppet, and on first hearing Yoda's voice, she yelled out "It's Grover wearing a mask!" for everyone in the theater to hear. Every time Yoda spoke throughout the film, someone in the audience would laugh. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.
