| Posted: | | | | Richie: All too sadly everyone focused on the wrong thing, you too, my friend I am not surprised butit happens so often I have come to expect it, and i have some theories as to why. Even more regrettably because everyone focused on the wrong thing so did Ken. But i'll not go further into it here,it's a waste of time. Mine most importantly, but everyone else's as well. You were obviously offended, but so was I and i still am, and you are so focused on your own insult, you can't or won't see mine. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. | Posted: | | | | Skip, why can't you just say "I am sorry", that would help a lot. You were obviously wrong here, which can happen. The poll results, all the users posts and Ken told you that you were just wrong.
Please accept it and let's move on.

The ruler of the universe is never wrong. LOL! Leave it to Skip to insult another user on multiple occasions and still be able to turn the tables and make it seem like he's the victim (how evil of us to focus on that one little detail he kept mentioning) | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

Skip So, basically, it's everyone else but you. Typical. You really need to man up and apologize for being wrong, but I doubt that will happen because you don't strike me as a stand up guy. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Ken Cole: Quote: If a contribution contains significant value, yet has one or more errors, users are encouraged to point this out to the submitter. It is valid to do this via a polite PM, or via polite vote comments.
In this kind of a case, it is fully valid to vote Yes, and also fully valid to vote No. Brief, to-the-point, polite comments are vastly more important than the vote count.
To repeat, in this kind of a case it is not a voting violation to vote No or to vote Yes. Herein lies part of the problem. Many of the contributions that I have had to vote on don't meet the significant value part of the rules as I understand them. In one instance, the overview was updated only to replace a single dash with an en-dash. What really constitutes significant value in a contribution? |

| Posted: | | | | That has been discussed ad nauseum, gilligan. I agree with several others who have said if is something that needs to be fixed, then it's significant. I am one who strives for perfection and good enough is not good enough.

| Posted: | | | | That is why I dislike the whole "Significant Value" line in the rules... What is significant can be different for different people. So people are going to vote by what is significant to them.
To me personally... if it is adding (or changing to) something accurate and is allowed (or demanded) by the rules then it is adding significant value. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | The important part of Ken's message is that it may not matter so much how someone votes, as long as the comments are helpful to the screeners. They can pick up on what is significant. | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Mithi: Quote: Indeed. The mandatory(!) comment on a No-Vote is the absolute proper way to communicate ones position on the matter. If the contributor doesn't agree with it, fine. At the end of the day it is the screener who decides not the votes.
cya, Mithi Absolutely correct! But at the end of the day when the screener declines the contribution, you still have your old errors AND are missing the new improvements. That's why I would not vote NO, if there are no new errors introduced. Instead I would correct the old existing errors with my own contribution afterwards, if I really want to have the errors fixed. A non mandatory but polite private message to the originator of the improving but not completely fixing contribution may of course render my contribution unnecessary, if the original contributor is willing to correct the other existing errors as well. |

I can't vote that way. Either the contribution is correct or it isn't. If it isn't, then I vote no with a detailed comment, and let the screeners decide whether or not it should be accepted. Quote: A non mandatory but polite private message to the originator of the improving but not completely fixing contribution may of course render my contribution unnecessary, if the original contributor is willing to correct the other existing errors as well. A 'no' vote with comment does the exact same thing. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. To repeat, in this kind of a case it is not a voting violation to vote No or to vote Yes. Isn't this whole discussion kind of moot now that Ken has weighed in? Specifically, he says "In this kind of case, it is fully valid to vote Yes, and also fully valid to vote No." So Skip's assertion that the NO vote was a violation of the rules is entirely false, as per Ken's own comments above.
