Look, I resurrected this thread (took my ages to find it again)

A movie I having been wanting a copy of for a while is being released tomorrow on dvd in OZ. Any of you that like sci-fi like I do will most probably like this very old movie - the rest of you will just consider it porn

"Lifeforce" - that old 1985 horror/sci-fi is going to be available on dvd. No blu-ray unfortunately. Looks like JB's will be flogging it for $9.99

Ok, go ahead and laugh all of you.. but I've had this on my wishlist for a very long time

Hello Parsec, let me know if Lifeforce is uncut, and in anamorphic widescreen. Looks like all other releases are either pan&scan or non-anamorphic.

Thanks in advance

Says nothing on JB's site to let me know...

Looked up the supposed supplier.. Visual Entertainment Group - but it's not even listed there.

So don't hold your breath for the widescreen.. I guess I'll find out when I get it (ordered it online).

Good luck with Lifeforce, be interested in quality. Not a bad movie, saw it when it was released at the Cinema.

JB's price is down to $7.99

DVD Warehouse have more information (I found this by Googling on the barcode I pulled from JB's website).

Barcode 9345228000120
Production Year 1984
Run Time 116 minutes
Rating M
Rating Information Mature Audiences
Type DVD
Region 4
Format PAL
Animated No
Colour Colour
Re-release No
Release Date 03/12/2012

Because it's Visual Entertainment Group, I wouldn't hold out hopes of a super high quality transfer.

I too saw it at the cinema; and I own the U.K. release which is non-anamorphic. Think I'll pop over to JB tomorrow and check it out.

Be interested to hear if your JB stocks it. I have found that the one I frequent doesn't seem to stock as much as I like, it's much more mainstream. I can't even find a blu-ray copy of 'The Day' there (excuse my affinity for B grade movies).

They haven't shipped my online order copy yet, so maybe I'll get the price reduction that W0m6at noted. I was hoping it would be shipped on it's release date....

Hmm JB price for Lifeforce back up to $9.99 and listed as special order... I'm still waiting.

Bet Sidrat couldn't find it down at the store.

Well I got my copy in the mail today.. finally. It appears to be just a copy of what has been previously released overseas. Just stamp out a new run of dvd's, stick it in a different cover, whack a upc on it and flog it off for 9.99 As to being uncut, I think only the US ever got a cut version.

But at least I have a copy now. It's the 2.35:1 version and looked a little undersize. Fortunately my player has a zoom so I watched it at 2x which filled up the EH-TW9100 screen nicely!! Hmm maybe I should watched Matilda May in 3D as well

Thanks for the feedback Parsec. Maybe I'll get the UK release sometime next year. I don't think a Blu-Ray release is to be expected.

I notice you listed the Oz Lifeforce in the DVD's bought this week thread.

So is it basically the same as the UK one?

Yeah. Couldn't help myself. Picked it up at Big W in their sale. Reduced from $8.83 to $6.61. I shall have to get my U.K. release out of storage to compare the two. It'll be a couple of days; have to get it out of my brothers shed.

Cheers
Bill
