Actually I agree to 100 % with Skip here, only use industry standard ratios.

If I had to guess, Pete, I would say that in all likelihood most of these will be in standard 16X9 format (1.78) this is based on the information you provided and that they do not mention any other AR. What is OAR or Theatrical Aspect Ratio, that would take some digging and probably would not provide anything that would be helpful.

That IS the real data. Only black pixels are cropped off. Forum Moderator: Removed

Only if I trust you, grendell and as I said, I do not, nor am I so arrogant that I would trust myself or anyone else. As usual when you cannot come up with a coherent argument you resort to insults. I don't know what your problem is but keep your personal remarks....to YOURSELF, they have no place here and are in fact against the Rules.

In light of this discussion, I need some help with the aspect ratio of Belgian cult movie "The Afterman".

According to IMDB, this movie was shot in 1.66:1, the DVD cover lists 1.78:1 as aspect ratio.

Below a screen cap I made (taken while displaying in full screen on my laptop at 1680*1050) and then resized. The image below gives me 1.48:1. This seems to much of for a pixel error. Has 1.50:1 been an official format ever?

I don't know how accurate it is, but Wikipedia lists an aspect ratio of 3:2 which would work out at 1.5:1 .

3:2 is the aspect ratio of most common digital SLR cameras. Hadn't thought of that. It still seems odd to be used as a cinema format.

Maybe they shot the movie on a nice shiny Canon 5D Mk 2.
