Sometimes I wish this community would spend more time doing profiles for the thousands of empty profiles in the system instead of thinking up ways to mess with long-established profiles.  Thanks to this thread I just wasted 20 minutes locking all my X-Files title fields since I'm sure someone will think that deleting the hyphen after all these years is some kind of high priority.

Filtering for "x-files", CTRL-A and then locking all titles at once takes just about half a minute.

Nobody's thinking of ways to mess with long-established profiles here. If you read why this thread was started you'd have seen that for yourself. Your thumbsdown is uncalled for.

I agree with that. Contributing rather complete new profiles (even if they contain  one or two small errors) is far more important for thousands normal users (those who watch movies and stop at the beginning of credits), than nit picking of users who begin the watching of the movie at the beginning of end credits, then scrutinize DVD back covers with a magnifying glass.

While I wouldn't have put it quite that way, I have to agree.  I find it very hard to believe that anyone would see an 'X' in a circle and think it was meant to represent 'X-'.

No one is arguing that the circle is a stylized dash, anymore than the horizontal rule in the logo for Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron is a stylized colon. The circle (and the change in font size) are meant to separate the "X" from the "Files." We have "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" but the not "The: Shawshank: Redemption" even though the logos in both cases have size changes and line breaks and generally nothing to distinguish how the titles should be written in the logos themselves. We decide where to place colons based on the plain text version of the title presented on the cover and what makes grammatical sense, not so much the logo which we understand to be a graphical representation. We do the same thing for capitalization. The rules endorse this. I don't see how dashes are any different.

I thought the same, the graphic circle on front cover was an artistic way to simulate the hyphen, supported by the overview and copyrights on rear cover which show X-Files.
But as with others I'll lock mine down with the hyphen locally, it is easier than arguing here
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

That was helpful, thank you. Can we now get back to the topic?

To clarify;

I thought the circle must be a graphical replacement of the dash, as everywhere else on the cover, in the credits, in the copyright, on the official site etc etc, it clearly says X-Files. Why just for a front cover would they dispense with the hyphen but not anywhere else?
I am not arguing the point, it is just my opinion and how I interprete it, and locally I will stick with X-Files.

Really?

I flagged all my X-Files profiles, then went to Collection -> Flagged -> Edit Locks.  Took no time at all.
Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.

I agree - never ever used The in a search..

Oh, great.  Now you tell me.  *smacks head*
Didn't know there was an Edit Locks feature, though, TBH.

Only if there aren't already some fully locked profiles amongst them. In such a case, your action would remove the full lock and replace it with a title lock only.

Please also note that, when opened via Collection -> Flagged -> Edit Locks, the full lock indicator in the Edit Locks dialog is *always* unchecked, even if some or all of the flagged profiles are already fully locked.
