I just came across one that has "Cast" (followed by names and roles) and then "ADR Group" (followed by names) on a single screen. All Crew Credits were on earlier screens, and this screen is followed by a screen with "Additional Cast". What about these? Does the fact that they are listed with the cast make them cast, or should they still be considered to be (non-contributable) crew? What do you guys think?

My question is genuine. This is a case where the members of an "ADR Group" are listed between Cast and (on the next screen) Additional Cast. It's an IMAX film called "Hearst Castle: Building the Dream".

Then it should be treated like stuntpeople.  If they are mixed into the cast, then they are included.

And as for hiring for a specific talent is cast, well don't they hire makeup artists and hairstylists and creature designer for their specific talent, they are crew, except in the rare example as dee1959jay gave....

Sorry - don't know how else to properly explain it...

Properly explain it ??? Gestapo ???

Do you really measure what means what you wrote? Gestapo was directly responsible of the death in gas chambers of thousands people, including women and children. Even if you disagree with another user, NOTHING can allow you to use such a comparison.

I read somewhere that those forums were moderated... hum...

I can see that nothing changes here...

I'll leave it to you, Yves, to take something completely out of context...

Fear not, I got it.

Too bad you didn't include an option to cover the case I brought in - something like "Depends on whether they are credited in the Crew or the Cast section".

That I would not have any problem with, though in my experience it is exceedingly rare, Stunt People being sandwiched in the Cast, though uncommon does happen, I can't think of a single case that I have seen yet that would have ADR creds sandwiched into the Cast, though they are out there I am sure.

I'll never say never, since i know that Hollywood has penchant for doing unusual things. But under normal circumstances ADR is always going to be part of the Sound dept, just as Foley performers are.

Now if Ken wants to give us ADR capabilities in the Crew, then obviously I would say knock yourself out, but not at the present time.

Yep, sorry.  I might should have added that as an option. Fortunately though, polls have no meaning other than to get an idea of opinions. When (or if) this issue gets moved to the rules committee, that will have to be a consideration.

I agree that normally ADR is part of non-contributable crew - this particular case might be different though. I actually had to think of what you (paraphrased) usually say: "who are we to know better than the movie producers?" In this particular case, that might read as: if they are credited among cast, then enter them as cast.

I will do some research this week and try to come to a consensus with Ken. Meanwhile. I suggest you voice your opinions, but keep it civil and no personal attacks. Just the facts...

I personally think the best way to handle it is the same way we do stunt people.... if it is listed in with the crew... it is considered crew. If it is within the cast list then (and only then) it should be considered cast.

I also like Charlie's idea best of treating them the same way we treat stunt people.
So Deejay's example would be included, but none of Daddy DVD's.
