The problem in this case (TRON/Tron) is that no clarification was given. Ken gave an opinion without giving any justification. What would be the rule behind this opinion? Have we to capitalize titles when they are capitalized on cover? Have we to capitalize titles that could be acronyms, even when they are not?

If you think Ken made a clarification and if you understood what he meant, please explain us, proposing a rule which would cover those cases.

Ken did not offer an opinion nor did he make a carification.  Ken did, however, make a ruling on the capitalization of one specific title.  While I don't understand the reason behind the ruling, I do understand what he meant.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.

You don't want to know why he made the call the way he did?

No, I honestly don't.  It really isn't that important to me.

First, as I explained in the TRON thread, I don't think Ken's ruling is against the rules, so your question is based on a false assumption.  Second, why is it so important to you that I don't want to know why he made the call the way he did?

Since Tron, TRON, TRon, TROn, TrON, TroN, TrOn & TRoN are all treated exactly the same, by the program, why do I care how it is entered or how?  If you need an explanation from Ken, fine, but it really isn't that big a deal to me.

Yes. He made it clear when he approved "TRON: LEGACY" shortly after.

BTW Jon is one of the very first user of DVDP and I'm sure he did contribute a ton of works way before you were there.

Playing the "my father is stronger than yours" game isn't really brilliant or usefull

I think you are insulting me, but the English is so poor it is hard to tell. And I have been using Profiler for over 10 years. The only people I am sure were at intervocative before me are Skip, Hal and MadMartian.

Thanks for not answering the question I asked. I think the users who don't agree with this ruling should know what it was based on, otherwise we can't expect contributions to be correct. I don't believe that I can follow rules if I don't understand them and in this case I don't.

Unless you are new, you already knew the answer to your question.  From where I sit, you were trying to back me into a corner based on a false premise...that Ken's ruling is against the rules.  While you are free to think that it is, I don't, so your question wasn't relevant to my not caring about his reasons.

That's fine for you, but I don't care what it was based on.  For some reason that seems to bother you...though, for the life of me, I can't figure out why.

But this isn't a rule, it is a ruling on one specific title.  While I may not understand why Ken made this ruling, the actual ruling is fairly easy to understand...for the online db, the titles are 'TRON' and 'TRON: Legacy'.

What was clarified to me is that the Rules are flexible, and not rigid.  So based on this, my policy would be to contribute what I think is correct, lock my local, and let the screeners sort out the on-line and not worry about doing their job for them.  That last part can be a little difficult, but I'm trying.  About 90% of my votes this past year have been "Neutral".

I am not new and you know that, so that sarcastic remark isn't needed.

Well I guess Ken is the only guy who can tell us if his ruling in this case would be according to the rules as he intends them to be, but then this could be used for other titles, right, or if it's against the rules in general but the way he wants this title to be handled. I understand it the way that it is against the rules and that's why he wants it NOT to be used as an example for other similar titles. If it's within the rules it shouldn't be a problem to use his ruling here for other titles. That's just my humble opinion. I was told to ask if I don't understand something and that's all I am doing here.
