I agree. To me the BD is the main disc. The 3D is more like an "add-on". I would just have a child profile
for the 3D with the differences from the BD. The only reason to purchase a 3D release is for the 3D. Because 3D is not mainstrean every 3D release coincides with a regular BD release. Since child profiles are optional you cannot force their creation or use, the parent has to contain the 3D data in some form. The polls in the "Contribution Rulles Comittee" forum do not include any option to ignore the 3D in the parent profile, and nor should they since children have to be optional. But keep in mind the rules being discussed are for the online database. How people profile locally is up to them. | | | | Last edited: by Scooter1836 |

Force, I understand that you disagree, but have you ever purchased a 3D title? If so, why? Yes, I have a few 3d (Combo) titles. 3 of them came with my TV and BR-player. The rest I purchased because they were on sale (equal or a little bit more than the 2D only release). Nice to have the 3D option (when kids come over etc.).And I will buy more, if the price is right. But for me the main thing is 2D. I see the 3D just as an option/add-on you can turn on if you want like some other features (like commentary etc.) |

In 3.8 we have a dimensions checkbox for that. You don't have to create a child profile. As Scooter loves to say; you can just make the 3D changes you want to the fields in the 2D parent and lock them. Just don't contribute them.  |

1- Separate Discs (Edition that holds two disc for each dimensions 3D and 2D)
2- Hybride discs unlocked ( A single disc that carries both edition on wich you can chose wich dimension you want to watch.
3- Hybride Locked (A single disc that holds both dimension but you cannot chose wich dimensions you want to watch) Option 3 would never exist. THe definition of a hybrid is that the single disc does both 2D and 3D, why would one be locked out, it would then just be covered in option 1 |
