I'll probably buy a lot more now from Amazon UK since they now offer free shipping to Europe.

Under what conditions? I just placed a order, Item: GBP 25.31, but Amazon invoiced GBP 2.24 for Postage & Packing.

The limit is £25. Not sure if that is before or after taxes though. What country are you in? I guess there are still some countries in Europe that don't qualify for free shipping. Unfortunately I seem to have deleted the mail which said what countries it was but I suspect that Germany and France are ruled out since I doubt that Amazon would like to compete against themselves...

I have no idea right now how many orders I've placed this year.  A lot.  Just about all my movies and books come from Amazon.

None.  Due to their rewards program, I buy 90% of my titles at Best Buy.

Ditto, especially since I have purchased 2 iPod Touch's, a Laptop, and 25 other products.
Getting 25+ $5.00 certificates has helped me buy a plethora of DVD's.

When I went on Amazon UK last week it had a huge banner saying it was now offering free shipping to Germany (and to click for details). I took no further look though as it doesn't affect me.

Crime, Mystery, SciFi, Film Noir, Espionage, Suspense, Fantasy are the genres I like to collect the most.
I also like to collect certain directors, writers, actors and actresses.

I hardly ever buy from the local retailers because it takes to much time to sort through the racks. It's not I don't like a sale, but the time time spent, driving there, and sales tax, etc. to me it is not worth the trouble and not find anything I want.

I buy almost all of my DVDs from Amazon and DeepDiscount in a 65% to 30% ratio, 5% where I find the DVD to complete a set.

In answer to your question: Amazon 344 titles, others 144 titles.

I bought The Avengers '62 at Walmart because it was the only place i could find it.

I like complete sets and always looking for them, like "Tales from the Crypt: The Complete Seasons 1-7" I bought yesterday. That is why I check Amazon deal of the day. I use sites like  VideoETA to see what is being released.
And sites like DVD Price Search to compare prices.

Today's TV shows are down to 43 to 40 minutes an episode, that almost 20 minutes of commercials.
If I skip the credits I can watch 5 episodes of today's TV shows in the time it would take to watch 3 of them live.

Plus it is more enjoyable the complete series in a week instead of waiting several months to see what happens.

I buy a lot of TV now because before I retired, because of travel and since I wrote the I/O controller firmware I spent many odd hours helping debug the computer, T&D and OS software. When I got home it was listening to music instead of TV.
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

Amazon Canada:  2 orders
Amazon Germany: 1 order
Amazon U.K.: 9 orders
Amazon U.S.: 5 orders

The above accounts for 49 DVD/Blu-Ray.  Locally I buy from Best Buy, Future Shop and from Star Struck in Toronto.  I no longer buy as much as I once did.  I buy hard to get titles at Amazon and Star Struck and get new releases from Best Buy and Future Shop.  I am now buying only about 100 titles a year when at my peak I might have purchased 25 to 50 titles each and every month.

The countries are: Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Andorra, Finland, Gibraltar, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Vatican city, Poland.

Not Austria, France, Germany, Switzerland.

Play.com delivers all the countries for free and without minimum order value.

In view of Play's very unfavourable exchange rate between the pound and the euro I would hardly call that "free". "Cleverly disguised" is more like it.

All the same Play.com delivers all the countries for free and without minimum order value, and that's much more true than Amazon UK now offer free shipping to Europe where France and Germany aren't part of Europe.

Which obviously is due to the fact that Amazon has separate branches in France and Germany.

EDIT: Amazon UK does not claim "free shipping to Europe", but "Super Saver Delivery to European destinations". Note: it doesn't say ALL European destinations.

I already linked to the truth. KinoNiki claimed here, I answered here.
