| Posted: | | | | Now, I haven't seen "The Great Global Warning Swindle", but from the description it seems to question that the global warming is man made.
It seems to me that this is pretty much a non-issue. Whether it is (mostly) man made or a natural cycle, it will most likely have dire consequences, and we should prepare for it and at least not contribute to it. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

that is totally ridiculous!! Agreed. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Agreed. Allow me to agree also. Problem is the whole stars voting system, which guarantees problems, and resentment. The system should be used to halt/slow nasty comments by posters, within a thread. Given the right to vote, folks will give negative stars, for reasons which are not appropriate. Because someone does not agree with 'global warming' he/she can cast a negative vote. Likewise I received a 'negative star' for my post/link to the Guillermo Ultimatum. The (Bourne Ultimatum) spoof came from the Jimmy Kimmel TV show, & was deemed to have the capability to be offensive. Wow! 100% of the movies discussed here can be offensive in some manner. How about this, some people on this board have offensive avatars or sig's., yet they can offend daily. The authors of this system, IMHO, spent way to little time talking about when & why to give stars, most of the effort seems to be have spent discussing the consequences of negative stars. Confusion seems to exist as very few good stars seem to be occurring at the "Gen Discussion" while negative stars are cast, because well I don't like him/her & disagree therefore I'll give a negative star. | Posted: | | | | You have to remember Rico, I believe at the moment Ken is still checking all negative votes and inappropriate ones are being removed and the original voter's own reputation is affected instead. I'm pretty sure that James' negative will not be there for long... I do agree however that it would be nice to have a better idea of what warrants a vote. Maybe a short list on the confirmation page would be the easiest way of doing it. |

| Posted: | | | | Hi Guys, Nortbloke - Quote: The (Bourne Ultimatum) spoof came from the Jimmy Kimmel TV show, & was deemed to have the capability to be offensive. The operative word in the quote is "deemed." Skip - Yes I remember what you were saying early on regarding stars, my feelings regarding starts was exactly the same. The only stars here should be celluloid. Well said Skip & enjoy the gold star, I'm giving you. Take Care Rico | | | If I felt any better I'd be sick! Envy is mental theft. I'm pretty sure that James' negative will not be there for long... I recently sent a PM to Gerri Cole about an unwarranted negative vote I received. She told me that they do not review single negative votes, because they don't impact the score. Consequently, the negative vote still stands. While this may frustrate someone who feels "wronged" by such a vote, it also is understandable. As I posted elsewhere, I consider undeserved negative votes reasonable "collateral damage" in the fight for a more civil community. It's unfortunate that they exist, but the end result is worth it. | Posted: | | | | Hi Guys, So if they find an unwarranted negative vote they will correct, but if you point it out sorry. Great system, reminds me of, 'do as I say, not as I do'. Quote: Overall, I think, the system has proven itself successful in making this forum more enjoyable again. Guess what they say about opinions! Also it seems Mathias, that the negative vote bothered you enough to take action. I believe (from reading your past posts) you too were the victim, of an inappropriate star. If only you hadn't PM'd justice would/could have been served. And what about those offensive avatars, & sig's? Take Care Rico | | | If I felt any better I'd be sick! Envy is mental theft. KM - Is this Ok in Iraq, a few innocent deaths in order to have a civil country? Now thats offensive! I refuse to give negative stars. Collateral damage is never acceptable IMO! KM Agree. Rico and m.cellophane, I understand your feelings, it isn't nice, but look at the big picture. One unwarranted red mark in a month or so is no big deal. I got one too. | | | -- Enry |

That isn't what Gerri said - "She told me that they do not review single negative votes, because they don't impact the score." What this means is that single votes on a post do not affect the score. They only bother removing them if more than 1 person had voted negatively on a post. | | | Paul |

I've quoted and changed the bold to what I believe is the relevant part. Individual negatives don't have an impact on your reputation, therefore there's no need to worry about the odd unjustified negative vote. |
