This why i liked the editor system on spot. It gave experienced contributors the authority to approve contributions to the database, and answer users questions. If it is the intention of Invelos to make this programs database fully reliant on it's user base. And if there level of staff is not sufficient enough to ensure proper management of the database.

Then something like the editor system on spot is a necessity. It's not rocket science just a tiny bit of common sense.

We all want the same thing at the end of the day.

Sounds like the perfect system for abuse that I ever heard of..."Experienced Contributors" imposing their personal preferences on the database without other users having a say...no thanks. I'll stick to the contribution voting system and screeners here any day thank you .

Oh yeah and Skip just plain don't abuse the current system. The guy admitted to submitting false data. Sam accepted if i remember correctly like 30,000 contributions on spot, and not one time did he abuse his power.

While I agree with you, I don't think we have to worry about that.  Thanks to AOL, no company in their right mind, that charges for their product, will ever use a volunteer workforce.

Btw, why is it still PAL?

PAL is an analogue TV code system used for colour televisions.  High definition is not.

And how do you deselect PAL in the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack then?

There should be an option to support combo packs. Another wonderful inaccuracy to add to the list. A database should be open to the possibility of change, and flexible enough to adapt accordingly to that change.

And another thing i don't understand is given Sam is apparently such a big business brain. Is why he don't get the DvD spot data taken by Cory. The hire a team of programmers to program a new DvD site.

Sure beats complaining if you have the resources to do it yourself.

Instead he complains about things on here

I am trying to find the rule you refered to in your 'no' vote.  It is common practice to list 'Anamorphic' on Blu-ray/DVD combo packs so I am quite curious.

From the box set rule, near the bottom:

Quote:
Sets containing the same film on multiple media types (such as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack) are to be entered as a normal profile for the main media type (Blu-ray in this example), with all included media types checked. A combo which includes HD media (HD-DVD, Blu-ray) as well as DVD should use the details from the HD media in the main profile. However, you may add an additional profile by Disc ID for the DVD content and add this profile to the Box Set contents for the Blu-ray profile.

They won't contribute them anymore if I set up my own linking system?

It's a question of what you prefer. Do you prefer to make two profiles when you contribute and check all the info of the profiles you got from the database or you prefer to do the work one time as you want and never spoiled your database because of the online...

I know my database is better since I cut myself from the database...

Thanks for that.  I have to admit that I didn't go looking for this in the Box Set section...not sure why though.  I guess there are a lot of profiles that need to be changed because, as I said, checking both seems to be a common practice.

You might want to countercheck this "no" vote with your B-rD of The Towering Inferno:

the screen print shows that the contributor took the changes from the credits. Are you saying you have brought up the credits and re-checked?

On-screen credits from the film show him credited as Normann Burton.

I have no idea what you are talking about here as I don't believe I own The Towering Inferno.

Seems like a foolish thing to do, to remove the Anamorphic info since:

1) Anamorphic obviously doesn't aply to the HD version (since there is no such thing) so anyone looking at the profile will know it belongs to the DVD
2) since the DVD 'child profile is optional, it makes sense to include the info in the main profile otherwise the info may not be inluded anywhere.

When I catch a contributor lying about taking information from the credits I'll usually open a support ticket and insert a screenshot from the contribution and from the film credits.  I think Invelos does pay attention to these.

Except he isn't lying.  He clearly states that he got the information from wikipedia and the credits.  Seems as if there might have been a need for the 'credited as' here, but the contributor didn't use it.
