I think the best solution would be to enter the bonus disc as box set contents since it apparently has its own package and all. Anyone who did not get this disc can just refuse the child and lock.

Yea, this is probably the best choice...rather than adding the disc ID to the main profile.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

This is what I've done and seen done with many other store exclusive bonus discs, although I don't think I've ever contributed a link to any parent profile, just put them in the database on their own via disc ID, then children locally with whatever disc they came with.

This also helps as I've been selling/trading off many dvds I've upped to Blu-ray, many with bonus discs. Then I can keep the bonus' as either their own entry, or as contents of the new BD parent.

It's not the same as Digital Copy/slip cover as not all stores got them, where all usually get the DC's. Of course that isn't always 100% true either, but is much closer to it.

Why not add it to "Other Features?"

("Wal-Mart Exclusive Bonus Disc") ("Best Buy Exclusive Bonus Disc")

Then make a separate profile for the Bonus Disc using Disc ID and make it a box set.

Wait a minute.... this is DVD Profiler. The above makes too much sense and is too useful for everyone. Better not do it.

I for on don't see it useful to "everyone" as you put it... it would only be useful to those that got theirs at that specific store. It is actually adding useless information to everyone that got the general release. Which I am sure would be the majority of buyers.

Not to mention I have seen sets that different stores has different bonus discs... going to list all the places you can get a different bonus disc in other features? With the limited space we have... that would be difficult at best.

Just like with slip-covers. Not useful for everyone either.

I myself do not keep the slip covers for the simple reason that in most case stores put a bunch of stickers on them that when removed tear up the slip cover images more ofthe than not. I do however keep slip cases.

It would let everyone know that the release had exclusive content, and where that exclusive content was available, all in one place. Collectors like to know that kind of stuff. But thankfully they have many DVD Profiler users like you to stop that sort of thing from happening.

I am not stopping anything. I am giving my opinion on the matter no different then you are. Or am I not allowed to present a differing opinion?

I like the way you think, even that we don't have all the profiling tools we'd need for that. That would be a field "diverging contents", that could be linked with additional child profiles to choose from. That reminds me, that many users have asked for an option to include re-release covers...

I can rely with that. But as I said, there needs to be a proper and approved way to do that. Just to give you a slightly other perspective: as one could identify by flag, I'm clearly not from the USA. But I do buy US releases at a personally significant amount. The main reasons for that are (in no particular order): price; early release date; no PAL-Speedup; dislike of some European crap labels; or quite often the particular equipment/features of a US release (alternate cuts, multiple cuts & formats, additional bonus materials, and so on...). So I first compare releases by profiles, and then by websites that keep track of features – German ofdb.de, US disc review sites, and so on. In the end I find a few particular releases, that I'd like to have. So I'm often relying on a particular release, that according to the profile has all the stuff I'm looking for. And I think it's understandable, that I'd be really pissed to find out afterwards, that the release with a certain UPC has store-exclusive bonus discs, that the same release ordered on Amazon doesn't have.

So I agree, that collectors want to know about exclusive contents. But "we" want to be able to properly identify them, and to know what to expect of common releases, without exclusive material. Agree?

I have to agree with Pete here, he only gave his very honest opinion on this matter, as has many others. I know next time I will most likely choose a different approach to this type of problem. By the way the contribution was approved today.

It could also be looked at as "look what you missed by not going to Suncoast" or wherever. Then it's almost rude. But...
I see both sides. I like to know who has what bonus disc, although I have started caring a lot less in the last couple years about them and don't feel like I missed out so much either if I don't get one. But there are websites and Sunday ads for that IMO, so it's not a huge deal to have here, esp. when for many it would be "this is what you used to get at Best Buy, sorry you only got the standard by being late to buy". This isn't the site for dvd sale news, although if everyone wants it to go that way I wouldn't be against it.

Maybe an optional add a child profile drop-box so discs that had a bonus, then there could be a list of what bonuses there were, and where from. I know Snakes on a Plane had different bonus discs in different stores, pretty sure a few others did as well. Then you don't have to look at what you missed if you don't want to.
