Nice job, thank you. Although I have never seen "Suomen kieli" used in DVD menus. You should propably just go with "Suomi" or "Suomi or suomen kieli". Suomen kieli basically translates "Finnish language". |

| Posted: | | | | Interesting discussion. I am just in the process of adding and modifying code from the "BDInfo" tool into the Contribution Assistant. I was surprised to see how many subtitle language entries in that tool are NOT covered in DVDP. If you are interested, here is the correspondence table, in programmese - but if you look at it, you will actually get the idea. All the entries staring with "//" are basically skipped over, not handled by DVDP, so I am forced to translate to "Other".
To understand this, look at the three letter codes, such as "afr". These codes come from the Blu-Ray metadata. This gets translated by DVDPca into "Afrikaans" in order to build a profile. So I think you can get the idea. Remember, all of those that start with "// case" are essentially NOT covered by DVD Profiler, but theoretically could appear in a Blu-Ray metadata.

| Posted: | | | | Just found another one: We differentiate between Slovene/Slovenian and the distantly-related Slovak/Slovakian in subtitles, but not in audio. Confusion is likely as the native names for both languages are near-identical as both mean "Slavic." Also, Valencian shouldn't be listed. From the Wikipedia article on the Catalan language: Quote: The official language academy of the Valencian Community (the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua) considers Catalan and Valencian simply to be two names for the same language. It's a minor dialect difference. The non-Valencian version doesn't even have a special name from what I can tell. |
