1. The info must come from the cover,
2. The rating on the cover are the canadian and the Quebec ones,
3. There are no US rating on the cover,
So what is the logical locality?
1. The locality is Canada or Canada (Québec),
2. The locality is United States.

| | Posted: | | | | A bit over a year ago Disney started including a Quebec rating printed directly on their packaging, blessedly removing the need for those idiot stickers in Quebec. They were the first company to do this, if I am not mistaken, but others are following suit. Here was my reaction whe I first noticed:

At about the same time they changed how they distributed their titles. Instead of having one for the US and a Bilingual one for all of Canada, they now made one for the US and all of English speaking Canada and another biligual version just for distribution in Quebec with French dominating the Title and French being first in the overview. Some shops in Quebec would carry both versions, but mostly they just carried the latter one.
The US does not use film ratings for their TV and direct-to-video releases so it is not unusual not to see a rating for them. I do not own the title in question, but it seems to me that if there is a bilingual overview then you should use either Canada or Canada (Quebec) if you feel like typing in French, but if not and if the existing release in the database does have the Canada and Quebec ratings (which you should be able to tell from the cover scans in the db) then you can either leave it alone as a US one or just as legitimately create a new Canada profile with a Canadian SRP and rating. | | | | Last edited: by bob9000 |

Except that I purchased my copy, which only has the Canada and Quebec ratings, at my local Best Buy and it wasn't an import. That's not to say that the release in question isn't a Canadian release, just that ratings aren't the best indicators because, as bob stated, some distributors are now placing the Canadian ratings on all their North American releases in order to cut costs. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.

F bomb isn't a big deal for our rating board Terry. Just to show you Slap Shot is rated 13+ here and countains all the collection of our colored blasphemous book... Here the important factor is the violence and even the nudity isn't that much of a deal (by exemple Showgirls and Boogie Nights are 16+), but a film like Wolf Creek was rated 18+ when it was release theatrically wich is really rare. |
