It is absolutely NOT the first time, I have sent particular user many PMs. At first trying to be helpful, assuming that he might not be an English speaker or simply had not understood the Rules if he read them. The tone of those notes has become increasingly strong in tone as he repeats the same errors over and over again.

He has read the PMs but has never responded, So I have concluded that his behavior is simply that of a willful child who wants things his way.

This is one time I hope you are paying attention. Sadly it only takes one user such as this to do tremendous damage to all the work that has been done by the users that really do care and do try to follow the Rules. Can screeners make errors, of course, they are human after all. But this is blatant and obvious.

On this I agree with you Skip, Even if I don't use the database I sure hope Ken will do something as this kind of obviously wrong contribution doesn't help his database at all...

I opened a support ticket linking back to this thread, so we will see if anyone at Invelos cares about this issue.

This looks to me to be a one time "oops" on the part of the screeners. I did a Google Advanced Search of the user in question and every single profile contribution submitted, up until now, was declined. His stats may show 4 contributions accepted but I'm pretty sure those were later recinded and the stats just didn't change. This user has made 26 profile contributions, all declined, and usually states his source as "DVD Profile", "Google", or "Rotten Tomatoes".

We should be able to trust people and believe that they contribute to the best of their ability. I have found, for the most part, that this is exactly how people are doing things.

But then there are situations, such as these, in which the contributions and the documentation are clearly wrong. In these cases it is frustrating to see the lack of invelos oversight.

Reluctantly, these are not isolated incidents. There are members in the community who knowingly and deliberately violate the rules and forum guidelines.

The real problem, as far as I'm concerned, is that invelos' fails to take any action. Why shouldn't the behavior continue if there are no consequences for breaking rules and guidelines?

Because of the lack of invelos support, the best action, as far as I can see, is to keep track of the violators and their contributions.

I am careful to double check these community members and scrutinize their work to be sure they are doing things correctly.

Then, if the profile is mistakenly approved, I can update the profile correctly and document the problem in the contribution notes.

This is frustrating because time I could spend updating other data is spent double checking and correcting work that should never have been approved in the first place.

Thankfully, there are only a few people whose work I have found to be deliberately misleading. Now if only invelos would do something about it….

Edit: I just saw your message 8ballMax - that is really good to hear. Thank you.

I can only occasionally talk myself into voting on contributions these days, and it's mostly when I know there is a problem with the contribution.  Even so, Invelos still manages to discourage me at every turn.

This contribution had 75% "No" votes when I last checked...

So... why do I even bother at all?

Because you care.
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

Probably for this rule:
Take Crew Credits from the film credits only; list names exactly as they are in the credits.

If they had to decline cast/crew for the reason of you stating you took this info from the case, then they can't add the image as their is no profile to connect the image to. I would imagine this is it but I still don't understand why Invelos can't just decline relevant sections instead of entire contributions.

I am guessing that sam is correct.  The fact that the cast and crew came from the back of the case may be the reason.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I am also guessing that Sam is correct. Don't take info regarding cast and crew from the cover - it needs to come from the credits to be valid....
