isn't it obvious that if someone contributes that it is per rules ?
If it is NOT per rules, the contributer would probably not say it anyways.

The only thing that matters is that the stuff he contributes is correct.

What I write in my contribution notes no one can proof anyways, I can say I got it from the fairies that whispered the cast into my ears, I can say that I got it from the official website, I can say that I got it from the end credits.
Nom one can proof if what i say is true or just a lie.

The only thing that can be proven is the data I contribute. if the data matches the end credits, I have done it correctly , if not I made a mistake or just got the infos from another source which does not match the credits.

Just by writing "Cast added from end credits per rules" means nothing more than horseshit .
What i actually have done is what counts

Would save us all alot of time if we would just keep the contribution notes to say what we have changed.
And nothing else.
If i add the rating description I have added it from the cover or the filmrating site. If I would not have gotten it from those two sources, does it make my contribution better if i lie in the notes ?
Hell no

So just list what has changed and I think we would be much better off here.

An example how I would like to read contribution notes:

Rating description added.
Cast corrected.
Audio corrected.
Overview typos corrected.
Crew Dividers added.

An example how it is now and it proves or means nothing more than the shorter version above:

Rating description added from the backcover, per rules.
Cast corrected from end credits of the DVD, per rules.
Audio corrected using Power DVD and BD Info Tool, per rules.
Overview typos corrected from the backcover, per rules.
Crew Dividers added by looking at the end credits, per rules.

The data I will provide is exactly the same and the redundant crap where I got my info from means and proves nothing, I could just have made it up.

I usually only state "per Rules" to point out a change that might be misunderstood by users reviewing the submission.  Like removing "Scene Access" from Disc Features when they are not accessible by a menu.  It points out a rule that some might have overlooked.

Most of us seem to be stuck on the fact that you can say anything in the notes you want too. Once someone has proven themselves to be reliable, there needs to be a certain amount of trust that, what they are saying is true to best of their ability. Keep in mind, that we all make mistakes and more trust is developed by admitting the mistake was made and fixing it.

Example: User A consistently says they have checked the CLT. You check behind them a couple times and find out they indeed must have, then it's time to trust them and take them at their word. Just my opinion.
