Add a disc ID when anydvd is running, and you will not add the real ID but something made up by anydvd. I think I used to get messages from profiler about anydvd running and turn it off or don't contribute anything. I used to like anydvd, now I just use dvdfab for any copying needs. It does everything anydvd and Nero both do, plus you don't have to run it when not using it. The Disc ID problem is solved (I don't know whether AnyDVD has solved it or DVD Profiler). The Disc IDs stays the same when I shut down AnyDVD. | | | | Cor |

The current (legit, no hacks here) version of AnyDVD co-exists perfectly with DVD Profiler, but it can of course be disabled at any time when it's not needed. AnyDVD removes the copy protection, so the use of this program is forbidden in Germany. Are you saying that it's illegal to use the program just because it can be used to bypass copy protection, even if you don't use it for that purpose? Yupp, German laws and IT don't go together very well. Last blast against smaller IT companies: In Germany it now is forbidden to use most of the network tools because they can be used to hack a WiFi network too. You have to get a license to be allowed to use at least some of the programs. But the best (like Angry IP scanner) remain forbidden. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

Then there was the case of the music / film industry against the heise publishing house which linked to the publisher of AnyDVD in a news article.
So there is a special relationship between the German law and AnyDVD. But if you look around in the German film forums you'll find that many use the Fuchs-Treiber (fox-driver) to watch their R1-DVDs. AFAIK there was no case against a private person because of the use of AnyDVD (yet). | | |
